Wits Innovation Lab is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to install, configure, and maintain complex network and security systems within our data center environments. You will troubleshoot LAN/WAN, firewall, and VPN issues while documenting resolutions for future reference.
You will proactively monitor network performance and security, working with customers, service providers, and vendors to drive issue resolution and project support. Shift work including weekends is required.
Install, configure, and maintain network and security equipment and services.
Perform troubleshooting analysis of LAN/WAN/firewall/VPN issues.
Document network problems and resolution for future reference.
Proactively monitors and ensures network availability, performance and network security.
Log, track and take ownership of network/connectivity issues and resolve issues to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Independently engage with customers to setup network connectivity.
This role requires one to be comfortable interfacing with customers, service providers and vendor support engineers.
Co-ordinate with vendor TAC to identify the root cause issue.
Maintain network device connectivity inside data centre & bank side.
A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, NAT, IP addressing and TCP/IP Network.
A practical level of experience implementing and administrating TCP/IP-based network.
Advanced knowledge in security devices –IPS, IDS & UTM.
At least 3 Year experience in Data Center Environment.
Expert in protocols –BGP is a must, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP.
Hands on experience in any one of the Juniper, Cisco, Checkpoint, Fortinet Firewalls, ACI-SDN & Radware Devices.
Experience on STP, VLAN, SVI, LACP
Experience on SDWAN – Fortigate & Aruba
Experience in handling GRE, P-VPN, P-NAT, P-Routing, and Clustering in FW
Knowledge in protocols TCP,UDP & IPV6
Knowledge in IOS upgrade
Knowledge/Experience in Radius, TACACS & TACAS+
Knowledge in NMS, SYSLOG & SNMP communication.
Basic Knowledge in FTP server communication/Connection.
4 to 5 years hands on experience with Juniper/Cisco/Melanox/Dell/Arista Switches, Cisco Routers, Cables,
Working knowledge of common network monitoring tools and network
Troubleshooting focuses on determining network vs Application/System issues and patterned vs. non-repeating problems.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability and willingness to work in shifts including on weekends and holidays.
