Job Summary:
As an L2/L3 Network & IT Systems Engineer, you will be a pivotal member of our team, responsible for managing and supporting enterprise-level network infrastructure. This role is instrumental in project execution, service delivery, and presales support, encompassing network design, implementation, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting. You will work across a diverse IT landscape, including active/passive networking, server systems, surveillance systems, and cybersecurity solutions, ensuring robust and reliable IT operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Network & Infrastructure (L2/L3 Expertise)
- Configure and commission a wide range of network devices, including Edge L2 switches, Distribution & Aggregation L3 switches, Core L3 switches, SAN switches, routers, TOR (Top of Rack) switches, Wi‑Fi routers, and Access Points.
- Oversee end‑to‑end network commissioning and provide dedicated service support throughout project execution phases.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues such as L2 loops, VLAN mismatches, and routing failures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve protocol‑related issues covering STP, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, and BGP.
- Proactively identify and address LAN/WAN performance problems and downtime incidents.
- Implement and manage VLANs, inter‑VLAN routing, access lists, and static/dynamic routing configurations.
Passive Infrastructure Validation
- Collaborate on planning and validating passive infrastructure components such as Cat6 and OFC cables, patch panels, LIUs, copper and fiber patch cords, SFP modules, server racks, and equipment mounting.
- Ensure all IT equipment is rack‑mounted and installed in strict adherence to industry and design standards.
Network Management & Monitoring (NMS)
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Network Management Software (NMS) solutions.
- Configure monitoring parameters like SNMP, traps, syslog, flow monitoring, and establish effective alerting rules.
- Maintain accurate and updated documentation for all device configurations, network topologies, and change logs.
IT System Support
- Configure and set up desktops, laptops, workstations, and physical/virtual servers.
- Install and manage operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and various server OS versions.
- Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects in enterprise domain environments.
- Perform installation, patching, and basic maintenance of server applications and storage systems (e.g., SAN, NAS).
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Configure and support core cybersecurity tools including endpoint protection, firewall rules, and antivirus/anti‑malware solutions.
- Implement log collection and auditing procedures for comprehensive security monitoring.
- Assist in integrating and supporting firewalls, VPNs, and access control policies.
- Coordinate with internal security teams or OEMs for advanced issue resolution and threat mitigation.
Surveillance & ELV System Commissioning
- Support configuration and commissioning of CCTV systems (VMS/NVR), Access Control systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Integrated Command & Control Center (ICCC) applications.
- Ensure seamless integration of ELV systems into the network and control‑room infrastructure.
Telecom and Connectivity
- Provide advice on connectivity technologies such as MPLS, Leased Line, Broadband, RF, and VPN.
- Assist in selecting optimal ISPs or connectivity methods tailored to specific project requirements.
Documentation & Asset Management
- Maintain records of switch/router inventory, network topologies, VLAN schemas, serial numbers, licenses, and warranty/RMA status.
- Perform regular backup configurations and firmware upgrades to maintain system stability and security.
Customer & OEM Coordination
- Log complaints with OEMs, track RMAs, and follow up until resolution.
- Coordinate planned downtimes, upgrades, and migrations with customers.
- Provide telephonic and remote support for urgent and critical issues.
- Support the presales team during tender and bidding phases by suggesting network components, validating technical specifications, reviewing BOQs and network architecture, and preparing detailed network designs (HLD/LLD).
Project Execution & Coordination
- Provide L2/L3 escalation support to site engineers during implementation and ongoing support.
- Conduct site visits for surveys, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Train end‑users and client engineers during project handover.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in network and IT systems engineering roles.
- At least 2 years of experience at an L3 level, demonstrating proficiency in complex troubleshooting, design, and architecture.
- Certifications (Highly Preferred):
- Networking: Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS.
- Server/OS: Microsoft MCSA/Mcse, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE.
- Cybersecurity: CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE, CEH.
- Virtualization: VMware VCP, Microsoft Hyper‑V.
- ITIL Foundation (preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Proven expertise with network hardware vendors and in-depth understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, MPLS, QoS, VLANs, VPNs, and SDN.
- Solid knowledge of server hardware, virtualization, storage solutions, and operating systems.
- Experience with directory services and network monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and ELV system integration.
