Job summary

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on enterprise network operations or NOC experience.
• Routing and switching, VLANs, IPSec/SSL VPN, NAT, DNS, and TCP/IP troubleshooting.
• Hands-on production experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or Palo Alto platforms.
• Active Fortinet NSE 4 or above, Cisco CCNA, or Palo Alto PCNSA recommended.
• Experience with a network monitoring platform; PRTG is highly recommended.
• Working familiarity with AWS and Azure networking (VPC/VNet, SGs, site-to-site VPN).
• Familiarity with GitHub for change tracking and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Continuous Monitoring: watch client networks and cloud environments and triage alerts.
• Network and Firewall Operations: support Fortinet, Cisco, and Palo Alto policy changes and VPNs.
• Incident Response: perform L1/L2 troubleshooting and resolution of routine faults.
• Escalation Discipline: hand off to senior engineers with complete written summaries.
• Proactive Queue: work backlog on audits, expiry reviews, patch posture checks, and tuning.
• Runbooks and Handoff: follow procedures, submit corrections, and provide end-of-shift handoff.
• Documentation: keep ticket records and environment docs; support security training.

Key Responsibilities

• Continuous Monitoring: Watch client network and cloud environments through PRTG, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Grafana, acknowledging and triaging alerts within defined service levels.
• Network and Firewall Operations: Support Fortinet, Cisco, and Palo Alto platforms, including policy changes, VPN tunnels, and routing and switching work under change control.
• Incident Response: Perform Level 1 and Level 2 diagnosis, documented troubleshooting, containment, and resolution of routine faults.
• Escalation Discipline: Hand off to the senior escalation engineer promptly, with a complete written summary, when an issue exceeds your level.
• Proactive Queue: During lower-volume periods, work the assigned proactive backlog: configuration drift audits, certificate expiry review, backup verification, patch posture checks, and alert tuning. Items are assigned and measured, not self-selected.
• Runbooks and Handoff: Follow documented procedures precisely, submit corrections where they are wrong, and produce a written handoff at the end of every shift.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate ticket records, keep client environment documentation current, support root cause analysis, and complete annual security and compliance training.

Required Qualifications

• Networking Experience: 3+ years of hands‑on enterprise network operations or NOC experience, or demonstrated equivalent skill.
• Core Skills: Routing and switching, VLANs, IPSec and SSL VPN, NAT, firewall policy, DNS, and structured TCP/IP troubleshooting.
• Platform Experience: Hands‑on production experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or Palo Alto; familiarity with a second platform is highly recommended.
• Certification: Active Fortinet NSE 4 or above, Cisco CCNA, or Palo Alto PCNSA is highly recommended.
• Monitoring Tools: Experience with a network monitoring platform; PRTG is highly recommended.
• Cloud Foundations: Working familiarity with AWS and Azure networking, including VPC and VNet, security groups, and site‑to‑site VPN..
• Version Control: Familiarity with GitHub for change tracking and collabration
