Job summary

NStarX Inc. is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain enterprise LAN/WAN, data center, and hybrid cloud connectivity. You will troubleshoot cross-domain issues, own monitoring, and drive automation to improve reliability.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in production networks, strong TCP/IP, and hands-on experience with major vendor platforms. You will collaborate with data/analytics teams and participate in change management and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on enterprise network engineering in production environments.
• Deep routing and switching expertise and strong TCP/IP fundamentals - able to reason about the full path a packet takes.
• Experience with enterprise platforms from one or more major vendors (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5).
• Working knowledge of voice/video networking - QoS for real-time media and the causes of call-quality degradation.
• Hands-on with monitoring, flow analysis, and packet capture tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, ThousandEyes, Wireshark, or similar).
• Firewall and network security experience - segmentation, ACLs, VPNs, secure remote access.
• Scripting ability (Python or Ansible) and familiarity with ITSM and change management processes.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Network Engineer

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, and data center infrastructure - routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VRFs, VLANs), data center fabrics, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
• Troubleshoot complex, cross-domain incidents to root cause, including voice, video, and contact-center quality issues (QoS, SIP/RTP, WebRTC, jitter, latency, packet loss).
• Own network monitoring and telemetry - configure monitoring platforms, flow data (NetFlow/sFlow/IPFIX), SNMP, syslog, and packet capture; tune thresholds to reduce alert noise.
• Execute change management with documented plans, peer review, validation, and rollback; participate in on-call and major-incident escalation.
• Serve as network/telecom SME to data, analytics, and ML teams - defining what constitutes an actionable incident, validating correlation and anomaly-detection output, and reviewing AI-generated recommendations before execution.
• Automate operational tasks using Python, Ansible, or vendor APIs; maintain configuration standards, runbooks, and topology documentation.

• Exposure to observability and telemetry pipelines (Splunk, Elastic, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar).
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and SQL, or with AIOps / AI-assisted operations.
• Experience in a regulated industry; consulting or client-facing delivery background.
• Certifications: CCNP (Enterprise, Data Center, or Collaboration), CCIE, JNCIP, AZ-700, or equivalent.
