Job summary

Skillsoft seeks a Network & Security Engineer to design, implement, and secure hybrid enterprise networks across on‑prem and cloud environments. The role emphasizes a security‑first mindset and proactive threat mitigation.

The ideal candidate will manage Cisco ASA firewalls, Umbrella, SIG, and Meraki, while optimizing Azure networking and leading threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management using Tenable. Collaboration with global teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in network and security engineering in enterprise environments.
• Experience administering Cisco ASA firewalls and security platforms including Umbrella and SIG.
• Solid understanding of Azure networking, including secure design and connectivity patterns.

Responsibilities

• Manage secure network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Administer Cisco ASA firewalls and security platforms (Umbrella, SIG).
• Operate and optimize Azure networking services, including VNets and NSGs.
• Monitor, detect, and respond to security threats using industry-standard tooling and intelligence sources.
• Perform proactive threat hunting and investigation activities to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
• Manage vulnerability scanning and remediation processes using Tenable, ensuring timely risk reduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure infrastructure design and alignment with enterprise security standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in network security posture, implementing best practices and automation where possible.
• Support incident response activities, including root cause analysis, containment, and remediation planning.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to play a critical part in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable network architectures while proactively identifying and mitigating threats across the organization. Responsibilities

• Manage secure network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Administer and maintain Cisco security platforms including ASA, Umbrella, Secure Internet Gateway (SIG), and Meraki solutions.
• Operate and optimize Azure networking services, including VNets, NSGs, routing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Monitor, detect, and respond to security threats using industry-standard tooling and intelligence sources.
• Perform proactive threat hunting and investigation activities to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
• Manage vulnerability scanning and remediation processes using tools such as Tenable, ensuring timely risk reduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure infrastructure design and alignment with enterprise security standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in network security posture, implementing best practices and automation where possible.
• Support incident response activities, including root cause analysis, containment, and remediation planning.

Skills & Experience Required

• 5+ years of professional experience in network and security engineering roles with strong hands‑on expertise in enterprise environments with a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
• Proven experience administering Cisco ASA firewalls and security platforms including Umbrella and SIG.
• Solid understanding of Azure networking, including secure design and connectivity patterns.
• Experience managing Meraki network environments, including configuration, monitoring, and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of threat detection, incident response, and security operations principles.
• Hands‑on experience with threat hunting methodologies and tools.
• Experience using vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable to identify and remediate risks.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security principles, and best practices.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in hybrid cloud environments with integrated on-prem and cloud network security models.
• Familiarity with zero trust networking principles and modern secure access approaches.
• Exposure to security automation and orchestration tools (e.g., SOAR, scripting).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP, or Azure Networking/Security certifications.
