Job description

The National Manager – Air Network Operations will strategically lead, design, and optimize the company's pan-India domestic air cargo network. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, maximizing yield, minimizing line-haul and airlines lodgement costs, and delivering superior last-mile transit performance. As a critical leader in our express distribution framework, you will ensure seamless inbound and outbound connectivity while balancing aggressive growth targets with tight cost controls.

Key Accountability Areas

Revenue & Yield Management

• Drive strategies to achieve and exceed national air network revenue targets.
• Optimize space utilization and cargo mix to maximize overall network Yield.

Cost Optimization & Control

• Actively manage and reduce the Product Development Cost (PDC) across the air network.
• Negotiate and optimize Airlines Lodgement Costs and overall delivery expenses to protect margins.

Service & Delivery Excellence

• Ensure benchmark-level Delivery Excellence across both Inbound and Outbound handling (ABSL - Air Business Service Levels).
• Guarantee flawless execution in last-mile operations, targeting maximum DIFOT (Delivery In-Full, On-Time).
• Monitor and continuously improve overall Delivery Efficiency across all major airports and hub gateways.
• Design robust contingency plans to mitigate air traffic disruptions, weather delays, and airline capacity constraints.

Qualification

Work Experience

-A minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in express distribution, logistics industries.

At least 4–5 years leading national or large-scale regional air operations with direct accountability for P&L, airline vendor management, and gateway operations.

Technical / Functional Competencies

• Air Cargo & Hub Operations: Deep understanding of commercial airline operations, space chartering, airport terminal management, and regulatory compliance (BCAS, DGCA guidelines).
• Financial Acumen: Proven ability to manage large operational budgets, conduct lane-level profitability analysis, and execute cost-reduction models.
• Vendor & Contract Management: High-level negotiation skills for dealing with major commercial airlines, ground handling agents (GHAs), and third-party logistics vendors.
• Data Analytics & LogTech: Proficiency in using modern Transport Management Systems (TMS), route-optimization tools, and BI dashboards to track real-time KPIs.
• Strategic Leadership: Ability to envision network expansions and rally cross-functional national teams toward shared organizational goals.
• Decisiveness Under Pressure: A sharp problem-solver capable of making high-stakes, real-time decisions during operational crises or network bottlenecks.
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills to build collaborative relationships with airline partners, airport authorities, and internal sales/customer service heads.
