PwC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Database Administrator to independently manage SQL Server and Oracle database environments for client engagements, acting as the primary technical contact for day-to-day operations.

The role focuses on performance optimization, change delivery, and mentoring Associate DBAs while maintaining strict adherence to SLA and governance standards. The position also involves designing backup/recovery strategies and capacity planning.

Qualifications

  • 6-7 years hands-on experience with database technologies.
  • Strong scripting skills with PowerShell, Python, or shell scripts.
  • Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes and strong communication.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end database operations for SQL Server and Oracle production and non-production environments.
  • Lead incident resolution for P1/P2 database issues, coordinating across teams to restore service within SLA.
  • Design and implement performance tuning solutions including index optimization, query rewrites, wait-statistics analysis and execution plan review.
  • Plan and execute database changes, schema upgrades, patch cycles and migration activities following change management procedures.
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery and DR runbooks; conduct periodic recovery tests and report outcomes.
  • Configure and manage Always On Availability Groups (SQL Server) and Oracle Data Guard / RAC environments.
  • Conduct capacity planning reviews, forecast storage and compute requirements, and advise clients on growth management.
  • Mentor and technically guide Associate DBAs, reviewing their work and supporting skill development.
  • Produce weekly and monthly operational health reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to reduce toil and improve service quality.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Database Administrator to independently manage th SQL Server and Oracle database environments for one or more client engagements, acting as the primary technical point of contact for day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities:

Required Skills & Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related technology field preferred

  • Minimum of 6-7 years of hands-on experience on Database Technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting

  • Strong working knowledge of ITIL principles and ITSM

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
