Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru is seeking a senior SQL Server DBA to manage production databases, optimize performance, and ensure high availability across on-prem and cloud environments. You will design schemas, implement backups and DR plans, and support migrations to AWS/Azure.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams for deployments is essential. Experience with T-SQL, PowerShell, and Snowflake knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of strong experience as a Seniors/Lead SQL Server DBA in a production environment.
• Knowledge of SQL Server versions 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances on-premises.
• Design, develop, and maintain databases, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
• Optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexes, and server configurations.
• Scripting with T-SQL and PowerShell will be added advantage.
• Strong experience in migrations on-prem to on-prem and on-prem to cloud (AWS/AZURE IAAS/PAAS).
• Backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.
• Configure, manage & troubleshoot replication (Snapshot & Transactional).
• Configure, manage & troubleshoot Always-On Availability.
• Database security management: user access, permissions, and authentication.
• Root cause analysis and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development and deployment.
• Snowflake knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Manage and tune SQL Server databases across production environments.
• Design and implement database objects and schemas.
• Monitor and optimize performance with appropriate indexing and configurations.
• Plan and execute backups, recovery procedures, and DR strategies.
• Implement replication and high availability (Always-On) solutions.
• Migrate databases to AWS/Azure as required.
• Ensure database security and access controls.
• Collaborate with development teams for deployments and support.

• Good knowledge of SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019 versions.
• Good understanding of Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances on-premises.
• Design, develop, and maintain databases, tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.
• Optimize database performance by tuning queries, indexes, and server configurations.
• Scripting Knowledge specially on T-SQL & PowerShell will be added advantage.
• Strong command of SQL Migration On-prem to On-prem, On-Prem to Cloud services (AWS/AZURE IAAS/PAAS).
• Strong understanding of database backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions. Ensure database availability and disaster recovery by implementing backup and recovery plans and performing regular backups and restores.
• Configure, manage & troubleshoot issue related to Replication(Snapshot & Transactional replication).
• Configure, manage & troubleshoot issue related to High availability technique like Always-On Availability technology.
• Strong knowledge in database security by managing user access, permissions, and authentication.
• Identify and resolve database-related issues and incidents by troubleshooting problems and performing root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application development and deployment.

Basic/advance Knowledge in Snowflakes will be added advantage but not mandatory.
