Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Bengaluru is seeking an MQ Administrator to manage and support IBM WebSphere MQ environments. You will install, configure, secure, and troubleshoot MQ systems, ensuring reliability and availability in a production setting.

Qualifications

  • Strong scripting and documentation capabilities are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting IBM WebSphere MQ (now IBM MQ) messaging software, including installation, configuration, security, and troubleshooting.
  • Setting up and configuring MQ queue managers, queues, channels, and listeners.
  • Providing technical support for MQ environments, including troubleshooting issues and monitoring performance.
  • Implementing security measures for MQ, including authentication, access controls, and encryption.
  • Identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks and optimizing configurations for MQ systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving production issues, collaborating with developers to resolve problems.
  • Setting up and monitoring MQ systems for performance and availability, with proactive alerting.
  • Managing incidents and problems related to MQ, following established resolution processes.
  • Developing and maintaining scripts for automating MQ administration tasks.
  • Maintaining documentation for MQ environments, including configuration details and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of messaging concepts including queue managers, queues, channels and listeners.

Job description

  • Managing and supporting IBM WebSphere MQ (now IBM MQ) messaging software, including installation, configuration, security, and troubleshooting. Good to have:

  • Typically requires 3+ years of experience in IT, with experience in WebSphere MQ administration, particularly with versions 6 or above.
  • Familiarity with different operating systems, including Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Linux.
  • Knowledge of security principles and practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with other teams and documenting procedures.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for automating tasks.
