Job summary

Mployee.me is hiring an experienced Embedded Software Developer for Linux BIOS and embedded Linux platforms. You will design, develop, and maintain software in C/C++, work with the Linux kernel and drivers, and contribute to Yocto/Buildroot-based builds.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities while following secure development practices such as Secure Boot and Secure Update.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of hands-on embedded software development experience.
• Experience with Linux BIOS, embedded Linux, and system programming.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills and multithreading/IPC.
• Experience with Yocto or Buildroot and kernel-driver integration.
• Secure software development practices including Secure Boot/Update.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer - Linux BIOS to design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions for Linux-based platforms. The role involves enhancing system functionality, resolving defects and vulnerabilities, and ensuring secure, high-performance operation of embedded products through close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and maintain embedded software for Linux BIOS and embedded Linux platforms.
• Design, implement, and optimise software components using C/C++.
• Develop new features and resolve software defects, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.
• Implement and maintain multithreaded applications and inter-process communication (IPC) mechanisms.
• Work closely with Linux kernel and driver components to support system functionality and hardware integration.
• Support the build, customization, and maintenance of embedded Linux distributions such as Yocto and Buildroot.
• Follow secure software development practices, including support for Secure Boot, Secure Update, and remediation activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design, development, testing, and release phases.
• Maintain source code and development artefacts using Git version control.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6-10 years of experience in embedded software development on Linux-based platforms.
• Strong understanding of Linux architecture, system programming, and embedded device integration.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as Secure Boot, Secure Update, and vulnerability remediation.
• Knowledge of Rust programming language is an added advantage.
• Exposure to communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, or similar industrial protocols is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
