Job summary

Mining Shift In-Charge role in Open Cast Coal Mining across Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand. You will assist the Project Manager to meet coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe, efficient use of resources.

You will coordinate with Auto-Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation and Blasting teams; monitor safety, logs, and compliance with SOPs; conduct shift safety talks; report incidents; ensure proper handover and operations support.

Qualifications

• Diploma or B.Tech in Mine Engineering with 2nd Class (R-CMR).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in open cast coal mining or similar.
• Open Cast Coal Mining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager to achieve coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe, efficient use of resources.
• Ensure compliance with production and dispatch commitments for quantity and quality of coal.
• Coordinate with Auto-Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation, and Blasting teams to ensure safe, continuous mining operations.
• Maintain logs, records and operational reports; monitor KPIs and highlight significant observations to the Project/Production Manager.
• Ensure compliance with statutory acts, SOPs and mine Code of Practice; conduct shift safety talks.
• Monitor mine safety and traffic discipline, prevent unauthorized entry and ensure geo-fence boundaries are maintained.
• Report accidents, incidents, near misses, and security concerns to higher authorities during the shift.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager inachieving coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe andefficient utilization of available resources.
• Ensure compliance withproduction and dispatch commitments for both quantity and quality of coalthrough optimal deployment of machines, equipment, manpower, and otherresources.
• Coordinate with Auto-Electrical,Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation, and Blasting departments to ensure safe,continuous, and efficient mining operations.
• Maintain prescribed logbooks,records, and operational reports, monitor key operational indicators andefficiency measures, and highlight significant observations to theProject/Production Manager.
• Ensure compliance with allapplicable statutory acts, rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs), and the Code of Practice applicable to the mine.
• Conduct safety talks at thebeginning of each shift, covering unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, nearmisses, and other relevant safety concerns.
• Monitor mine safety and trafficdiscipline, including tipper/dumper loading stability, prevention ofoverloading, adherence to designated routes, and compliance with prescribedtraffic rules.
• Prevent unauthorized entry ofoutsiders or vehicles into the mine and ensure geo-fence boundaries aremaintained, with violations reported and addressed promptly.
• Ensure personnel found under theinfluence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances are removed from themine, attendance is appropriately recorded, and the matter is reported to theProject Manager.
• Immediately report accidents,incidents, near misses, security concerns, and other untoward occurrencesduring the shift to the appropriate higher authorities.
• Ensure appropriate securitymeasures are taken for coal-loaded tippers/dumpers that break down while enroute to their destination.
• Monitorhaul road conditions, equipment breakdowns, and other mine safetyconcerns and ensure timely corrective action. Take immediate decision &action during weather-related issues and other emergencies as well.
• Ensure appropriate firefightingarrangements, dust suppression, illumination, and other environmental andworkplace safety measures are maintained at the site.
• To coordinate with the controlroom to Prevent unsafe distractions, including unauthorized use of mobilephones by workmen during operational activities, and promote safe workpractices.
• Ensure effective shift handoverby providing the reliever with complete information regarding operationalstatus, equipment breakdowns, safety concerns, pending activities, and othercritical matters.
• Remain at the workplace untilproperly relieved by the designated successor.
• Ensure proper understanding andimplementation of the required MiningOperation and transportation facilitation applications, including itsfunctionality, benefits, and applicable SOPs, and ensure compliance withprescribed processes.
• Perform any other dutiesassigned by the Project Manager or superiors in support of safe, efficient,and productive mining operations.
