Job summary

Qualifications

• Educational background in mining or allied fields (M.Tech/ME).
• Holder of First class Manager's Certificate for Coal workings.
• 18–22 years of work experience in mining operations.

Purpose/Objective

• The Site Head is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight and direction of all mine operations, ensuring stringent adherence to safety standards, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
• Tasked with strategically deploying resources, including equipment and personnel, they spearhead drilling, blasting, and coal seam removal activities while instilling a pervasive culture of safety among both employees and contractors.
• Collaborating closely with engineering teams, they engage in proactive planning to tackle seasonal challenges, all geared toward the overarching goal of meeting production targets while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities of Role

• Site Head - Coal Mining Mine Operations & Production Management: Oversee daily mining operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
• Supervise drilling, blasting, excavation, and transportation activities to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Implement cost-effective measures to enhance operational performance and stay within allocated budgets.
• Monitor and evaluate mining equipment performance, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs to prevent delays.
• Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline mining processes.
• Pre-Construction Planning & Regulatory Compliance: Lead pre-construction activities, ensuring all statutory clearances, including environmental and forest approvals, are obtained.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DGMS, Pollution Control Board, and State Mining Offices to secure necessary permits.
• Manage land acquisition challenges and ensure smooth transition processes for mining operations.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Safety Management Plan in compliance with DGMS norms, MMDR Act, and environmental laws.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training programs to ensure a zero-accident workplace.
• Resource Allocation & Cost Management: Strategically deploy personnel and equipment to maximize efficiency and achieve production goals.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime.
• Ensure proper inventory management for spare parts and consumables to avoid disruptions in operations.
• Monitor project expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial alignment with budgetary constraints.
• Innovation & Digital Transformation: Drive the adoption of digital tools such as pit-to-plant digitization to enhance transparency and decision-making.
• Implement advanced mechanization practices and data analytics to improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate innovative technologies into mining operations.
• Regularly evaluate digital platforms to optimize performance and align with business objectives.
• Stakeholder & Team Management: Liaise with internal teams, including engineering, logistics, finance, and HR, to align operational goals with business strategies.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as contractors, regulatory authorities, and community representatives.
