Job Description
We are seeking a Tech Operations Lead to design, build, automate, and support enterprise container platforms running on Amazon EKS. This role will be responsible for enabling application modernization, containerization, cloud-native adoption, platform reliability, and operational excellence across a large portfolio of business-critical applications.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Kubernetes and AWS cloud technologies, coupled with experience supporting enterprise middleware platforms such as Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, and IIS.
Job Responsibilities
Kubernetes & EKS Platform Engineering
- Design, implement, operate, and enhance Amazon EKS clusters supporting enterprise workloads.
- Manage cluster lifecycle activities, including version upgrades, node management, platform patching, and capacity optimization.
- Implement and support Kubernetes features such as Ingress Controllers, HPA, KEDA, Karpenter, ConfigMaps, Secrets, RBAC, and Storage integrations.
- Develop standardized deployment patterns and reusable platform components for application teams.
- Optimize platform performance, availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Cloud-Native Application Modernization
- Partner with application teams to migrate workloads from traditional middleware environments to containerized platforms.
- Lead containerization efforts for Java and .NET applications.
- Create and maintain enterprise-standard container images and deployment frameworks.
- Support adoption of cloud-native architectures and operational best practices.
Platform Automation & DevOps
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for containerized application deployment.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code and platform automation solutions using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and GitOps frameworks.
- Automate provisioning, monitoring, drift detection, compliance validation, and operational activities.
- Drive self-service platform capabilities and engineering efficiency.
Reliability Engineering & Operations
- Provide production support for mission-critical Kubernetes and middleware platforms.
- Troubleshoot complex issues spanning applications, containers, middleware, networking, operating systems, and cloud services.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement efforts.
- Define monitoring, alerting, observability, and reliability standards for cloud platforms.
Security & Compliance
- Implement Kubernetes security best practices, workload isolation, image governance, and access controls.
- Support vulnerability remediation, platform hardening, security audits, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Integrate security tooling into platform engineering and deployment processes.
Middleware Platform Support
- Support enterprise middleware technologies including Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, IBM WebSphere, and Microsoft IIS.
- Assist application teams with middleware configuration, deployment, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Lead technology currency initiatives and platform modernization programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 6+ years of infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or site reliability engineering experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes administration experience.
- Strong experience supporting Amazon EKS in production environments.
- Experience with: Kubernetes
- Docker / Containers
- AWS EC2, IAM, VPC, ALB/NLB
- Linux Administration
- Git-based CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
- Experience supporting highly available production environments.
