Job summary

Novetum is seeking a Project Team Lead / Operations Lead for the Medical Coding project in Hyderabad. You will oversee day-to-day operations, manage coder and QA productivity, and serve as the main client contact to ensure on-time delivery within SLAs.

The role requires 5+ years of medical coding experience with 2+ years in a leadership capacity, a relevant bachelor's degree, and advanced certifications (CPC/CCS). General shift with immediate joining.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of medical coding experience with 2+ years in a lead role.
• Advanced certification (CPC, CCS or specialized credentials).
• Strong knowledge of revenue cycle management (RCM) workflows.
• Excellent leadership, decision-making and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Operations management: oversee day-to-day workflow, shift management and scheduling.
• SLA and target management: monitor productivity, quality scores, turnaround times (TAT) and SLAs.
• Client and stakeholder communication: liaison for client queries and escalation.
• Team development and training: onboarding and learning paths.
• Process optimization: identify bottlenecks and drive automation or efficiency.

Role Summary

The Team Lead manages day-to-day project operations and oversees coder and QA productivity. The role is the primary point of contact for clients and ensures seamless delivery of the medical coding project within SLAs.

Key Responsibilities

• Operations management: Oversee day-to-day workflow execution, task allocation, shift management and resource scheduling for seamless project execution.
• SLA and target management: Monitor team productivity, quality scores, turnaround times (TAT) and contractual SLAs, ensuring they are consistently met or exceeded.
• Client and stakeholder communication: Act as the internal and external liaison for client queries, operational meetings and escalation resolution.
• Team development and training: Coordinate onboarding training for new hires, manage ongoing learning paths and evaluate employee performance.
• Process optimization: Identify bottlenecks in the coding-to-billing pipeline, propose workflow improvements and execute automation or efficiency initiatives.
• People management: Handle leave management, attendance, periodic performance reviews, roster planning and employee engagement and retention activities.

Requirements and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences, Management).
• 5+ years of overall medical coding experience, with a proven record of handling team operations (2+ years in a lead role).
• Advanced certification (CPC, CCS or specialized credentials).
• Strong command of revenue cycle management (RCM) workflows and project management principles.
• Excellent leadership, decision‑making and conflict‑resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing teams of coders and auditors across multiple specialties.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA, payer guidelines and client compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in MIS reporting, MS Excel and dashboards for tracking productivity and quality.
• Exposure to specialty coding such as risk adjustment or HCC projects is an advantage.
• Experience with process automation or Lean and Six Sigma methods.
