Job summary

Addverb Technologies in India seeks a professional to drive Initiating New Product Development and oversee design review stages, coordinating inputs from design, manufacturing, sourcing and quality teams to translate requirements into feasible product specifications.

You will guide the process from concept through prototyping, ensure regulatory alignment, perform risk assessments, and lead cross-functional collaboration to deliver robust, manufacturable products on schedule.

Responsibilities

• Receive / gather new solution or product requirement from product management/Sales team and Management
• Seek inputs by visiting project sites, customer / competitor warehouses, if required
• Seek inputs from ME, Purchase, SQA & suppliers (if required)
• Research, analyze and establish product requirement, functions, attributes, and product design specifications
• Adopt an iterative approach to arrive at the product attributes and specifications
• Conduct feasibility study and projected business proposal (in collaboration with sales) for approval by Management
• Conceptualize & produce ideas for taking into account the pros and cons of implementing those ideas, assessing risks, minimizing the likelihood of error, achieving projected costs, and evaluating the potential success of the intended project
• Review competitor products; conduct reverse engineering
• Prepare 3D CAD and project plan / timelines for review and approval of design head
• Apply tools and techniques to ensure a safe, robust & reliable design (DFMEA, DoE, etc.)
• Understand International regulatory requirements (like UL, CE certifications) and incorporate those requirements in the design
• Evaluate environmental impact of the product design over the product lifecycle and conduct risk assessment to eliminate or minimize the risk
• Prepare 2D and 3D drawings and release BOM for prototyping; incorporate maker checker concept within the design team for drawing validation
• Prepare the final design and make the final drawings for prototyping
• Involve SCM, Purchase and SQA in the make or buy decision for specific parts / components
• Understand existing supplier process capabilities and constraints and incorporate these constraints in design; If current supplier constraints are a bottleneck in achieving product specs, then ask Purchase to empanel new supplier which meets design considerations
• Develop a test plan & quality check requirements and finalize in consultation with ME & Quality teams
• Oversee the manufacture of the prototype; resolve queries from production, ME, SQA, Purchase, SCM, suppliers. If required review the PPAP documents submitted by supplier to Quality team. Address queries of all concerned stakeholders during prototyping stage
• Collaborate with ME & Production to evaluate the design for manufacturability
• Oversee the inspection of prototype by Quality team. Review and analyze the inspection test reports and take corrective actions in design, if required
• Conduct trials of the prototype and validate actual performance with the product requirements established during feasibility
• Offer prototype to aftersales for maintainability review and evaluate / incorporate suggestions received
• Prepare Proto trial report for Detailed Design Review by Design Head and Management .
