Job summary

PARAS DAIRY is seeking a dedicated Lead – Mechanical Maintenance to oversee the dairy plant’s maintenance program. The role emphasizes maintaining high equipment availability, planning preventive and predictive maintenance, and driving efficiency in energy use and cost control.

You will coordinate across Production, Quality, Projects, Purchase and EHS to ensure safe, compliant operations, lead maintenance teams, manage spares, and drive installation and commissioning of new machinery as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical maintenance function for the dairy manufacturing plant and ensure high equipment availability and reliability.
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Handle maintenance of dairy processing equipment such as milk processing lines, pasteurizers, homogenizers, separators, evaporators, filling/packing machines, CIP systems, pumps, compressors, boilers and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure minimum equipment downtime through effective breakdown analysis, RCA and corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement annual/monthly maintenance plans, schedules and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Lead planned shutdowns/annual maintenance and ensure timely completion of critical maintenance activities.
  • Manage maintenance of utilities and associated mechanical systems, including boilers, refrigeration systems, compressors, DG-related mechanical systems, pumps and pipelines.
  • Identify opportunities for energy saving, process improvement and maintenance cost optimization.
  • Manage spare parts planning, inventory control and ensure availability of critical spares.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Projects, Purchase and EHS teams for smooth plant operations.
  • Evaluate and manage AMC, contractors and external maintenance agencies.
  • Drive installation, commissioning and modification of new machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements and company maintenance procedures.
  • Prepare and monitor the maintenance budget, CAPEX and OPEX for the department.
  • Lead, train and develop the mechanical maintenance team and ensure effective manpower deployment.
  • Maintain proper documentation, maintenance records, SOPs, checklists and equipment history.
