Job summary

JobItUs in Vadodara is seeking a Mechanical Lead to oversee boiler package equipment and utilities. The role requires 12+ years in mechanical engineering and FEED/detailed design experience, with strong AutoCAD 2D and Plant 3D skills.

Responsibilities include equipment selection analysis, RFQ handling, data sheet reviews, vendor coordination, and interfacing with other disciplines to deliver piping and plant layouts at site.

Qualifications

• BE / BTech – Mechanical Engineering.
• 12+ years of experience in mechanical engineering projects.
• Experience with FEED / Detailed Design of piping projects.
• Interface with multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze options for utility equipment selection and finalization.
• Layout utility areas in plants.
• Prepare RFQ, review vendor offers, and draft TQ/TBE reports.
• Review data sheets for boilers, chillers, pumps, tanks, etc.
• Review vendor drawings and documents for compliance.
• Discuss requirements with clients to align equipment.
• Coordinate with other disciplines for piping and equipment tasks.
• Lead FEED / Detailed Design of piping projects.
• Plan and oversee engineering work, calculations, and bid summaries.
• Apply piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.1, API, etc.).

Job Description

• Options analysis for selection/finalization of utility equipment.
• Layout of utility areas.
• Preparation of RFQ, vendor offer review & technical query (TQ) and technical bid evaluation (TBE) report preparation.
• Review of data sheets for all types of boilers, air compressors, chiller, cooling towers, dry coolers, condensate recovery system, nitrogen system, tank farm, hot water system, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.
• Checking and reviewing vendor documents/drawings.
• Technical discussions with clients to align on utility equipment and other requirements.
• Able to interface with other disciplines for carrying out activities related to equipment.
• Consultancy/EPC experience in FEED / Detailed Design of project for piping.
• Plan, develop, coordinate and review engineering work, such as engineering calculations, specifications and bid summaries for projects. Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering. Control day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, specialists, designers and drafters. Make decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represent the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.
• Prepare and oversee work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly. Coordinate assigned engineering work with other project groups/disciplines. Review and approve key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries. Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) and coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval of drawings/documents for different phases of project.
• Knowledge of piping codes and standards like ASME B 31.3, B 31.1, API, ASME Section VIII, IBR etc. Design basis/criteria for piping, selection and preparation of piping material specification pertinent to a project/job.
• Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment selection, plot plan & plant layouts, materials selection, exposure to stress analysis. Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
• Managing mechanical and piping team with guidance for various projects, based on the criticality of schedule for the respective projects.
• Good working knowledge of application of 2-D and 3-D CAD tools in development of conceptual designs and detail engineering design deliverables of some complexity. Guiding modellers/drafters and team for best equipment & piping layout design as per industry norms.
