Job summary

Ramky Sustainability Solutions Hyderabad is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design reviews, equipment selection, and vendor evaluation for Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plants. The role spans installation, testing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance across mechanical systems.

You will drive preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and mentor a team of engineers and technicians while coordinating with EPCs,

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities covering design review, equipment selection, vendor evaluation, and technical specifications for WtE systems.
• Oversee installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning with EPCs and OEMs.
• Develop preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance strategies to maximise plant uptime.
• Manage day-to-day mechanical operations of the WtE plant and related facilities.
• Ensure compliance with CPCB, SPCB, Factory and Boiler Acts and safety standards.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for reliability improvements.
• Prepare mechanical O&M budgets, spare parts inventory, and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and project teams for integration.
• Mentor engineers, supervisors and technicians; foster safety culture.
• Interface with authorities, consultants, OEMs and stakeholders; prepare technical reports.
• Support performance tests, plant optimisation and future expansions.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical engineering activities covering design review, equipment selection, vendor evaluation, and technical specifications for WtE boilers, turbines, generators, material handling systems (conveyors, feeders, grab cranes), ash handling, RDF processing equipment, pumps, compressors, fans, ID/FD systems, and balance-of-plant (BOP) equipment.
• Oversee installation, erection, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of all mechanical systems in coordination with EPC contractors, OEMs, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Develop and implement robust preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance strategies (including RCM and RCA) to maximise plant uptime and equipment life.
• Manage day-to-day mechanical operations and maintenance of the WtE plant and associated facilities, ensuring optimal performance of combustion systems, steam cycle, cooling systems, and material handling.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety (including confined space, hot work, LOTO), quality, environmental, and statutory compliance (CPCB, SPCB, Factory Act, Boiler Act, etc.).
• Lead root-cause analysis of equipment failures, implement corrective/preventive actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives for reliability and efficiency.
• Prepare and control mechanical O&M budgets, spare parts inventory, and maintenance schedules; optimise costs while maintaining performance guarantees.
• Coordinate with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and project teams for seamless integration and troubleshooting.
• Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, supervisors, and technicians; build technical capability and foster a strong safety culture.
• Interface with local authorities, consultants, OEMs, and project stakeholders; prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management.
• Support performance guarantee tests, plant optimisation, and any future expansions or upgrades.
