Job Description – Engineering Intern / Application Lab Intern

Job title - Engineering Intern – Application Lab / Test Lab

Reports to - Applications Lead / Test Lab Manager

Location - Pune

Internship Summary

The Engineering Intern will support the Application Lab / Test Lab team in setting up lab equipment, assisting with customer part testing, collecting test data, and preparing clear test reports. This role is suitable for engineering college freshers or final-year students who are interested in gaining hands-on exposure to industrial testing, instrumentation, mechanical fixtures, and engineering validation activities.

The intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers and lab team members and will be expected to learn standard lab processes, follow instructions carefully, maintain accuracy in data recording, and support day-to-day lab activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will assist the team in the following activities:

• Support setup of instrumentation, leak test equipment, and lab tools for testing customer parts.


• Assist in assembling simple fixtures and test setups under supervision.


• Help prepare customer parts and samples for testing.


• Assist in performing lab tests as per defined procedures and instructions.


• Record test observations, readings, and results accurately.


• Prepare basic test reports in a clear and understandable format.


• Support engineers in interpreting test data and understanding what the results indicate.


• Coordinate with internal teams for lab testing-related activities when required.


• Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and safety in the lab area.


• Learn and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines.


• Support documentation of test methods, observations, issues, and learnings.


• Perform other duties as assigned by the Applications Lead, Test Lab Manager, or senior engineers.

During the internship, the candidate will get exposure to:

• Leak testing concepts and industrial test applications.


• Use of test instruments, lab equipment, and measurement tools.


• Fixture setup and basic mechanical assembly for testing.


• Customer part testing and application validation.


• Data collection, result interpretation, and report preparation.


• Basics of engineering documentation and communication.

Minimum Qualifications

• Final-year student or recent fresher from engineering college.


• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Production, or related engineering discipline.


• Basic understanding of engineering fundamentals.


• Interest in hands-on lab work, testing, instrumentation, and product applications.


• Ability to understand technical instructions and follow defined procedures.


• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.


• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical components, fixtures, sensors, or pneumatic systems.


• Exposure to CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar software.


• Basic understanding of measurement, calibration, or test equipment.


• Awareness of engineering drawings and part inspection methods.


• Interest in product testing, validation, application engineering, or R&D activities.


• Basic knowledge of Python, data logging, or test automation will be an added advantage but is not mandatory.
