Job summary

Siemens in Chennai is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for MV Secondary Distribution Switchgear ANSI. You will be the mechanical engineering lead across design, documentation, collaboration, and field support.

You will create drawings, 3D models, and BOMs, collaborate with application and project engineers, and ensure quality gates before release. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering degree, 4+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of product lines and/or product technology.
• 4+ years of proven experience in engineering or drafting electrical power distribution products and systems.
• Experience working with 3D models.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration, leadership, and decision-making within a team.
• Good PC skills including MS Office and willingness to learn product configuration and applications.
• Ability to multitask and manage large workloads.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Siemens MV switchgear product 8DJH36 gear.
• Create documents for customer approval and manufacturing per design specifications.
• Produce 3D Models, General Arrangement, Side Views, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with Application Engineers, Project Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers across the project lifecycle.
• Act as a Quality gate prior to release of drawings/documentation to customer and factory.
• Own overall deliverables from a mechanical standpoint.
• Provide factory support during manufacturing and support customers during FAT.

We are looking for: Senior Mechanical Engineer - MV Secondary Distribution Switchgear ANSI

You’ll make an impact by:

• Serve as Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Siemens MV switchgear product 8DJH36 gear
• Job duties can be broken across 3 categories: “Design & Documentation”, “Collaboration”, “Support and Quality”
• Work independently to create all documents for customer approval and manufacturing of Medium Voltage switchgear per design specifications using Engineering Design and Configurator software Typical documents include:
• Customer Specification Alignment
• 3D Models for Factory Fabrication, General Arrangement, Side Views, Bill of Materials
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across project lifecycle, including Application Engineers, Project Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers.
• Function as Quality gate prior to release of drawings/documentation to customer and factory. assembly drawings, detailed drawings, manufacturing sketches, layouts, inspection data and bill of materials
• Ownership of the overall deliverables from a mechanical standpoint – including design, drafting, customer and factory deliverables point of view.
• Provide factory support during the manufacturing phase of your projects making sure quality requirements are met. Also, in the process of providing technical support or clarifications to customers during FAT.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of above-mentioned product lines and/or product technology
• 4+ years of proven experience working with the engineering or drafting of electrical power distribution products and systems. Preference given to experience with switchgear.
• Experience working with 3D models.
• Demonstratable proficiency with AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders effectively and accurately.
• Excellent collaboration, leadership, and decision-making skills in a team environment, and demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks.
• Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office tools and willingness to learn product configuration and applications.
• Ability to multitask and manage large workloads and business demands.
• An ideal candidate is self-driven with attention to detail, a system thinker, and process-driven, and should also embrace a culture of quality.
