Job summary

PACCAR India is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join its Pune team, focusing on the design and development of truck components including sheet metal brackets, casting parts, and exhaust systems. You will leverage Creo Parametric modeling to create robust designs, support prototype builds, and ensure performance, durability, manufacturability, and compliance with engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering.
• 1–4 years hands-on automotive experience; truck domain is a plus.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric and Windchill; strong sheet metal and casting knowledge.
• Experience with GD&T, tolerances, and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of exhaust systems.
• Develop robust sheet metal and casting designs with fabrication and manufacturing considerations.
• Create detailed drawings with GD&T, BOMs and standards compliance.
• Perform vehicle packaging, system integration, and interface management across subsystems.
• Participate in design reviews with lead and division engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams locally and globally to ensure design manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of exhaust systems.
• Develop robust sheet metal, and casting designs with a strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOMs, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Perform vehicle packaging, system integration, and interface management across subsystems.
• Participate in concept and design reviews with lead and division engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both locally and globally, to ensure design alignment and manufacturability.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED

• 1–4 years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, with truck domain experience considered an advantage.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal, casting, and manufacturing processes.
• In-depth knowledge of exhaust systems.
• Ability to effectively design and manage large assemblies using both top-down and bottom-up approaches.
• Excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and engineering drawing standards.
• Experience in tool clearance, reliability, and ergonomic evaluations.
• Proven ability to collaborate with both local and global engineering teams.
