Job summary

Arup in Mumbai is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead building services design within multidisciplinary teams.

Candidates should have a mechanical engineering degree, be chartered or working toward chartership, and 7–10 years of relevant experience, with BIM/Revit and Python familiarity.

  • Demonstrated strong engineering capability with an innovative design approach.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, understanding client requirements and coordinating with co-professionals and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation of specifications and drawings, guide engineers and CAD staff, and support site inspections and project delivery.

Take a leading role in developing building services elements, including calculations, drawings, tender documentation, feasibility studies, and condition reports. Hold a relevant engineering degree and be progressing toward professional chartership, demonstrating commitment to technical excellence and professional development.

Responsibilities:

Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, taking responsibility for understanding and communicating client requirements to the team while coordinating with co‑professionals and stakeholders. Represent the discipline in project meetings, contribute to innovative design development, and present initial concepts through sketches. Oversee the preparation of specifications and drawings, including guiding and supervising engineers and CAD staff. Carry out site inspections and liaison activities, and support the internal management of small to medium‑sized projects.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related construction discipline

Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration

7–10 years of relevant experience; data centre, hospital, or laboratory exposure is advantageous

Experience in BIM/Revit and familiarity with digital or programming tools (e.g., Python) preferred

Demonstrated strong engineering capability with an innovative design approach

Ability to build effective team relationships and work independently with minimal supervision

Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure

Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills with a proactive mindset
