Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Bengaluru is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Valves & Integrated Products Engineering team.

You will contribute to design, development, testing, sustaining engineering, and documentation of vacuum-based products such as isolation valves and pressure control valves. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in mechanical design, hands-on prototype experience, and strong CAD/GD&T skills with exposure to CAD tools like Inventor, Creo or SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical product design and development.
• Experience with ECOs and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawing creation using Autodesk Inventor, Creo or SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of machining, welding, and mechanical assembly; prototyping experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, build, and test vacuum isolation valves and related mechanical products.
• Develop assemblies with machined/welded components and pneumatic/electromechanical actuators.
• Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
• Apply GD&T to ensure functionality, manufacturability and quality.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.
• Support verification activities including prototype builds, testing, data analysis and design improvements.
• Participate in all product development phases from requirements to release to production.
• Prepare and present technical documentation and communicate design decisions.

Experience with vacuum systems, sealing technologies, actuators, and precision mechanical components is highly desirable.**Key Responsibilities*** Design, develop, document, build, and test vacuum isolation valves, pressure control valves, custom manifold solutions, and related mechanical products.* Develop mechanical assemblies comprising machined and welded components, static and dynamic sealing solutions, and rotary or linear pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical actuators.* Create and maintain detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD tools such as **Autodesk Inventor, Creo** and/or **SolidWorks**.* Apply effective **Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)** methodologies to ensure product functionality, manufacturability, and quality.* Select appropriate materials and design features based on performance requirements, reliability targets, manufacturing capabilities, and cost considerations.* Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders to optimize designs for production.* Support product verification activities including prototype builds, testing, data analysis, root-cause investigations, and design improvements.* Participate in all phases of product development, including requirements definition, concept development, detailed design, engineering analysis, design reviews, validation, and release to production.* Generate and maintain engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans, reports, and change documentation.* Prepare and deliver technical presentations and effectively communicate design decisions to cross-functional teams.* Independently manage engineering assignments while collaborating effectively with global cross-functional teams.**Required Qualifications*** Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.* Minimum **3 years of experience** in mechanical product design and development.* Experience working with **Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)** and **Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)** systems.* Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawing creation, preferably using **Autodesk Inventor, Creo** and/or **SolidWorks**.* Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerance stack-up analysis, and GD&T.* Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, and mechanical assembly.* Experience developing, building, and testing mechanical prototypes.* Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.**Preferred Qualifications*** Advanced knowledge and practical application of GD&T.* Experience with vacuum systems, vacuum technology, semiconductor equipment, or other high-technology capital equipment.* Knowledge of thermal and mechanical analysis, simulation, and **Design for Manufacturability (DFM)** principles.* Familiarity with pneumatic, electrical, and electromechanical actuation systems. #LI-MK1Globally, our policy is to recruit individuals from wide and diverse backgrounds.
