Job summary

Orcapod Consulting Services in Coimbatore seeks an experienced mechanical designer to create and verify drawings, BOMs, and layouts for hyperscale data center projects. You will produce MTOs, isometrics, and P&IDs ensuring compliance with standards and client specs.

You will coordinate with vendors, supervise outsourcing, and support installation procedures using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, among others.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical, piping and structural drawings and deliverables.
• Ability to prepare layout and detailed drawings with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with data center modules or hyperscale environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide and check drawings / BOMs as per customer requirements.
• Prepare bulk MTOs and detailed BOMs with no supervision.

• Prepare and present layout drawings to customers.

• Prepare and compile installation procedure for submission to customer.
• Supervise outsourcing of engineering design work to third parties.
• Review vendor data and drawings for compliance.

Role & responsibilities

• Provide and check drawings / BOM as per customer requirements.
• Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) with no supervision from Engineer.
• Ensure drawings follow the Engineering and quality standards set by the leads.
• Prepare layout drawings to customer to present the proposed equipment and the function of the equipment.
• Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list, HVAC ducting, instrumentation, flow diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, handrails /ladders, walkways, and stairs as per OSHA, platform and grating detailed drawings, etc.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience:

Experience in mechanical, piping, and structural scopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules or related environment in similar industry.

• Ability to produce drawings / sketches to illustrate design / ideas.
• Experience with high-density data centers and hyperscale environments (strongly preferred)
• General Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations, including
• AHRI Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute
• AMCA Air Movement and Control Association International
• AISI – American Iron and Steel institute
• AISC – American Institute of Steel Construction
• AISI – American Iron and Steel institute
• ANSI – American National Standards Institute
• ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Mastery knowledge and proficiency in:

Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
