Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed HVAC and mechanical engineering design for building services projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules, calculations, and design reports.
• Develop and manage design documentation using CAD and BIM platforms.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in client, consultant, and contractor meetings under senior guidance.
• Ensure deliverables are completed within timelines and budgets.
• Review and guide the work of technicians and junior engineers.
• Support design coordination and resolve multidisciplinary challenges.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
• Keep senior team informed of key design decisions, risks and opportunities.

About the Role

Buro Happold is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer to join our Pune team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality HVAC and mechanical building services designs across a diverse range of projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed HVAC and mechanical engineering design for building services projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, schedules, calculations, and design reports.
• Develop and manage design documentation using CAD and BIM platforms.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
• Participate in client, consultant, and contractor meetings under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Assist in reviewing and guiding the work of technicians and junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-6 years of experience in Mechanical/HVAC Design within an MEP consultancy environment.
• Strong understanding of HVAC design principles, including:

  • Chilled Water Systems
  • VRF/VRV Systems
  • Smoke Management Systems
  • Energy-Efficient Building Design
• Experience working on commercial, residential, mixed-use, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES VE, and Hevacomp.
• Strong knowledge of applicable international and local design standards.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; knowledge of macros is desirable.
• Good understanding of electrical and public health engineering systems and their integration with HVAC services.
• Ability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
