Job summary

Buro Happold Limited in Pune seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC from concept to detailed design across diverse projects. You will prepare specifications, schedules and technical reports, and coordinate CAD documentation to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Ideal candidates bring 8–12 years’ building services experience, familiarity with ASHRAE, and a strong grasp of Indian/international standards, with a collaborative, client-focused approach.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Your next role

• Lead the HVAC from concept to detailed design stages.
• Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design - e.g. HVAC, Plumbing & Firefighting etc in ASHRAE
• Carry out mechanical design calculations, sizing, equipment selection, layouts and technical reports.
• Prepare technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work.
• Keep senior design team members informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the BuroHappold and the client are achieved.
• Manage project finances, monitor scope, and ensure quality
• Plan and organise your workload to ensure that you are meeting clients expectations.
• Attending client, site and external design team meetings.
• Support junior engineers and participate in internal design reviews to ensure quality and consistency

Your skills and experience

• 8-12 years' experience in building services design engineering; hands on experience of High-Rise Building, Big Infrastructure projects, Airport, Malls, Mixed developments etc.
• Experience in HVAC Designing with Plumbing and Firefighting system knowledge.
• Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organisation, combined with ability to work independently.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Indian and international standards.
• Broad building design knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects.
• Excel skills (a detailed understanding including the use of macros).
• Although mechanically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of electrical concepts and their impact upon the overall project. Ideally also showing an awareness of other key design team members such as architects, structural and civil engineers.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, and HAP software.
• Understanding of chiller selection, CHW piping, CDW Piping design, AHUS, FCUs, selection. PUMP and Fan selection, Pressure drop caution, duct design etc.
• Understanding of BMS and Atomization of Mechanical systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in relevant subject or Mechanical engineering.
