Job summary

Tata Autocomp Systems Limited seeks a Design Engineer for BESS to design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems compliant with ISO/ANSI standards. You will create 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs for battery storage solutions.

Role requires strong SolidWorks expertise, knowledge of sheet metal, DFMEA/FMEA processes, and cross-functional collaboration with production, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs for high-performance energy storage systems.

Qualifications

• BE in Mechanical Engineering with strong design background.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Experience applying DFMEA/FMEA and BOM management in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• 3D CAD Modeling and assemblies using SolidWorks (mandatory) and AutoCAD.
• Prepare part, manufacturing, and assembly drawings meeting ISO/ANSI standards.
• Integrate electromechanical components within system models and BOMs.
• Develop fabrication drawings per internal guidelines and track changes.
• Apply DFMEA/FMEA methodologies to improve design robustness.
• Collaborate with production, sourcing, manufacturing engineering and quality teams.

Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) division. The role involves designing, developing, and integrating mechanical systems for advanced energy storage solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• 3D CAD Modeling: Create detailed 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks (mandatory) and AutoCAD.
• Engineering Drawings: Prepare part, manufacturing, and assembly drawings compliant with ISO/ANSI and company standards.
• Electromechanical Integration: Import/export and validate electromechanical components within system models.
• Fabrication Drawings: Develop fabrication‑ready drawings adhering to internal design guidelines.
• Bill of Materials: Generate and manage detailed BOMs.
• Concept Development: Support concept development with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• DFMEA/FMEA Practices: Apply DFMEA/FMEA methodologies to enhance design robustness.
• Material Selection: Ensure proper material selection based on IS metal grades and performance needs.
• Sheet Metal Design: Design with understanding of sheet metal fabrication methods, coating, and surface finish.
• Container Integration: Integrate mechanical systems into standard shipping containers, considering structural constraints.
• Designs and develops, validate and supports the release of new products, systems of BESS
• Uses CAD & CAE tools to develop and analyze the designs, create detailed engineering drawings and models.
• Developes risk assesmen with DFMEA, FMEA documentation and provide improvement recommendations during design engineering reviews.
• Work closely with cross functional teams like production, sourcing, manufacturing engineering , quality for smooth project execution.
• 5. Understanding of DFA,DFM principles considering series production.
