Job summary

Waaree Renewable Technologies in Mumbai is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to independently lead the complete BESS engineering and design function. • 8–15 years of hands-on design experience in utility-scale BESS projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; M.Tech preferred.
• Ability to coordinate with OEMs and support techno-commercial activities.
• Thorough knowledge of IEC, IEEE, CEA, MNRE standards.

Responsibilities

• Independently design utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Prepare SLDs, GA drawings, layouts, cable routing, earthing and lightning protection designs.
• Perform AC/DC electrical system design and engineering calculations.
• Carry out battery sizing, PCS sizing, transformer sizing, cable sizing, and protection studies.
• Develop BOQ, BOM, technical specs, equipment datasheets, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with Battery, PCS, EMS, SCADA, Transformer and Switchgear OEMs.
• Review vendor offers and conduct technical evaluations.
• Provide engineering support during proposal, tendering, execution and commissioning stages.
• Coordinate with BD, Procurement, Project Management, Civil, Electrical and Commissioning teams.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, CEA, MNRE and utility standards.
• Resolve engineering issues during project execution and commissioning.
• Drive design optimization, value engineering and continuous improvement.

Waaree Group is expanding into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business and is seeking an experienced Design Engineering professional to independently lead the complete BESS engineering and design function.

The ideal candidate should have hands‑on experience in designing utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, preparing engineering deliverables, coordinating with OEMs, supporting techno‑commercial activities, and providing engineering support through project execution and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently design Utility Scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.
• Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLD), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, layouts, cable routing, earthing, and lightning protection designs.
• Perform AC/DC electrical system design and engineering calculations.
• Carry out battery sizing, PCS sizing, transformer sizing, cable sizing, and protection coordination studies.
• Develop BOQ, BOM, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate with Battery, PCS, EMS, SCADA, Transformer, and Switchgear OEMs.
