Job summary

SEPAL, a young startup founded by IIT engineers, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive automotive product design and development. You will lead plastic model design, develop mechanisms, and ensure DFMA from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

We value hands-on experience in NPD cycles, GD&T, and APQP/PPAP, with proficiency in Catia, AutoCAD, and Windchill, while leveraging prototyping tools like 3D printers and CNC machines to accelerate development.

Qualifications

• Degrees in Mechanical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech)
• 2-4 years in New Product Development roles
• Experience in automotive plastic products and electro-mechanical components
• Strong knowledge of NPD processes and QMS

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of plastic models for automotive products
• Develop engineering details, mechanisms and DFMA for concept to production
• Support all development phases from requirements gathering to deployment
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure high-quality designs
• Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources
• Integrate and validate new product designs for production
• Provide support for mechanical QA performance and post-production troubleshooting
• Collaborate with internal teams to meet project goals
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions

Mechanical Design Engineer | Expertise in Automotive Product Design & Development.

A highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and a passion for developing innovative automotive products. With a background in B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, I bring hands-on experience in the design and development of Plastic products and Electro-mechanical components for the automotive industry.Preferably having 2-4 years of work experience in NPD roles

Key Skills & Expertise:

• Proficient in mechanical design tools such as Catia, AutoCAD, and Windchill
• Expertise in working with plastic components, die casting, and sheet metal design
• Skilled in design calculations, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• In-depth knowledge of New Product Development (NPD) cycles and Quality Management Systems
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP documentation and processes
• Familiarity with operating 3D printers, CNC machines etc.
