Job summary

Edwards is seeking a Manufacturing Lead to oversee on‑site production of customized vacuum packages in India. You will lead assembly, ensure execution per drawings and BOM, and coordinate with engineering, quality, and supply chain to keep targets on track.

You will drive continuous improvement, coach technicians, and manage project milestones across multiple packages in a fast‑paced environment at our Chakan site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical).
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, engineering execution, or related disciplines within industrial or engineered‑to‑order environments.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex rotating equipment and process package projects.
  • Strong experience working with leading EPC / LSTK contractors and major end users.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of project planning tools and ERP/SAP systems for project execution and reporting.
  • Exceptional coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Manufacturing Lead is accountable for the successful execution of each customized package. They coordinate material readiness, engineering clarifications, production sequencing, quality, testing, and dispatch, ensuring that every package is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.

1.Production Execution
  • Lead assembly of customized vacuum packages.
  • Execute production according to approved drawings, BOM, and work instructions.
  • Ensure daily production targets are achieved.
  • Resolve shop-floor issues to prevent delays.
  • Optimize manpower allocation across projects.
  • Act as system assembly and test expert, training and coaching production personnel on assembly and test best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing and testing processes, through SOPs, assembly instructions, and operating procedures
2. Project Ownership
  • Own assigned packages from production release through dispatch.
  • Monitor project milestones and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate daily with Project Managers.
  • Report project progress and risks.
3. Material Readiness
  • Verify complete material availability before assembly.
  • Coordinate shortages with Supply Chain and Sourcing.
  • Escalate long-lead item issues.
  • Prevent production stoppages due to missing materials.
  • Clarify technical issues with Design Engineering.
  • Manage engineering revisions and change notices.
  • Ensure latest drawings are used on the shop floor.
5. Quality Assurance
  • Ensure assembly follows approved procedures.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks.
  • Coordinate inspections with Quality.
  • Close NCRs and corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue forecasts and present to management.
  • Coordinate milestone payment activities, including internal follow‑up and external customer payment submissions.
6. Testing & FAT
  • Prepare packages for testing.
  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Support customer inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Ensure punch points are closed before dispatch.
7. Production Planning
  • Prepare weekly and daily production plans.
  • Review progress against milestones.
  • Identify bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate priorities with Planning and Project teams.
8. Safety & 5S
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure PPE compliance.
  • Lead toolbox talks.
  • Promote housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Report and investigate near misses.
9. Resource Management
  • Lead technicians, fitters, electricians, and welders.
  • Develop team skills through coaching.
  • Manage overtime and productivity.
  • Reduce assembly time.
  • Improve productivity.
  • Standardize assembly practices.

Implement Lean and Kaizen initiatives. Capture lessons learned for future projects.

4. Engineering Coordination
  • Clarify technical issues with Design Engineering.
  • Manage engineering revisions and change notices.
  • Ensure latest drawings are used on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate deviation approvals.
10. Continuous Improvement
  • Reduce assembly time.
  • Improve productivity.
  • Standardize assembly practices.

Implement Lean and Kaizen initiatives. Capture lessons learned for future projects.

To succeed, you will need
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical)
  • 10+ years of experience in project management, engineering execution, or related disciplines within industrial or engineered‑to‑order environments.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex rotating equipment and process package projects.
  • Strong experience working with leading EPC / LSTK contractors and major end users such as EIL, Reliance, Technip, tKIS, Tecnimont, Toyo, and similar global engineering organizations.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of project planning tools and extensive experience working with ERP/SAP systems for project execution and reporting.
  • Exceptional coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels.
  • Solid financial acumen, including understanding of project margins, revenue forecasting, cost monitoring, and Percentage of Completion (POC) reporting.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving approach, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
