Job Summary

Leads the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while leading and co‑leading teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met. Leads by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes. Impacts the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Cummins standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods. Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members. Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments. Leads the advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins. Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.

  • Problem Solving - Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem solving by using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data‑based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and ensures actions to prevent problem reoccurrence are implemented.
  • Workstation Design - Designs operator work stations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment.
Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. This role is to support Cummins Manufacturing Execution Systems (CMES) team and L2 support to sites.

CMES Support Responsibilities

Expertise in Apriso and SQL queries is good to have, rather than a mandatory requirement. Strong overall IT skills are required.

  • Provide Controls/ME consultation and support to sites as needed on CMES.
  • Participate in Fit‑Gap Analysis meetings. Analyze the business requirement with respective current solutions. Identify the gaps & help to get business justification of identified gaps. Support IT team to the design, development, testing, and documentation efforts. Support to raise the change requests for identified gaps. Review the conceptual designs and functionality based on the Fit gap analysis and provide solutions. Coordinate with plant business teams to review the designs and seek approval.
Level 2 Support Scope
  • Support global manufacturing sites – for implementation and sustenance of CMES systems.
  • Understand and knowledge of Mfg. process (Assembly and Machining) very well to be able to consult on it.
  • Work with business users and suggest work around in case there are any CMES issues.
  • Provide consulting to plants on how to manage CMES downtime.
  • Execute functional and regression testing for CMES upgrades and identify bugs.
  • CMES configuration trainings and documentation.

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering preferred.
