Job summary

Cummins Inc. in India is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to support manufacturing needs with a focus on safety, quality, and reliability.

You will operate and service equipment, using Siemens TIA Portal, servo drives, and PLC/robotics tools with minimal guidance. Responsibilities include performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance, solving problems, and contributing to TPM and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal, servo drives, programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics programming, troubleshooting and industrial automation systems.
  • Knowledge of machine safety practices (LOTO, HIRA) and safety standards (ISO/ANSI).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance on equipment.
  • Repair and maintain machinery; ensure uptime and safety compliance.
  • Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints; participate in TPM and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with peers and support teams; document issues and feedback.

Job Summary:

Performs skilled activities which support manufacturing business needs. Selects and uses appropriate tools, machinery and specialty equipment completing work with limited guidance. Learns and understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Applies high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship. Support equipment uptime and downtime failure analysis. Performs work in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and specifications using various tools, measuring and testing instruments. Provide feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system. Follows all process documentation and quality procedures. Raises issues to minimize cost and quality exposures. Performs quality inspections. Delivery Performs the skilled activities expected by their roles in accordance with defined roles and responsibilities. Demonstrates a high level of competency in core work skills. Repairs and maintains equipment. Performs and documents preventive, emergency, corrective and predictive maintenance activities. Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping and machine cleaning tasks. Performs other miscellaneous duties as required to meet business goals. Work with peers and support staff to: Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints Solve problems and improve processes Participate in continuous improvement activities Teamwork Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams. Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements. Participates actively with local Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

  • Intermediate-level knowledge gained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEMENS TIA Portal , servo drive handling, programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong basic logic-building and analytical thinking ability.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, HIRA , and other industrial safety practices.
  • Knowledge of machine safety systems (added advantage).
  • Ability to perform Why-Why analysis and use structured problem-solving techniques .
  • Ability to identify and implement cost‑saving techniques in daily work.
  • Hands‑on experience with Yaskawa robots and familiarity with ABB/Yaskawa systems.
  • Experience working in Robot Studio or equivalent platforms.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Yaskawa robotics /Fanuc (teaching, troubleshooting, maintenance).
  • Understanding of robot safety standards and regulations (ISO, ANSI/RIA).
  • Experience integrating ABB robotic systems with conveyors, and PLCs.
  • Need to Attend Daily Breakdown Electrical and Mechanical with Maintain 5S .
Experience
  • Requires intermediate-level experience gained through education, training, or on-the-job exposure.
  • 3–5 years of experience in PLC Programming Knowledge, automation, or electrical machine maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs, robotics programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems.
  • Preferers SIEMENS PLC training Certification
