Job summary

Cummins, Pune, India, is seeking an experienced professional to lead planning, design, purchasing, and implementation of CMES improvements while guiding and co-leading cross-functional teams.

You will provide Level 2 CMES support across global sites, work on CMES integration with control systems, and participate in Fit-Gap analyses to drive continuous manufacturing enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing /Industrial/Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering required.
  • 5 to 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with CMES and manufacturing execution systems preferred.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Leads projects to create and implement manufacturing processes meeting safety, goals, and specs.
  • Apply manufacturing principles to improve equipment and processes.

Job Summary

Leads the planning, designing, purchasing, and implementation of changes to the manufacturing equipment and systems while leading and co-leading teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met. Leads by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes. Impacts the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Cummins standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods. Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members. Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments. Leads the advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins. Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.

  • Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement.
  • Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
  • Tool and Fixture Design - Selects work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process to secure their position to meet functional requirements.
  • Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.
  • Continuous Process Improvement - Recognizes areas in which a process can be improved by properly implementing process improvement and waste reduction methodologies to reduce process cost and improve quality in current manufacturing processes.
  • Ergonomics Process and Workplace Design - Designs, creates or adapts processes and workstations by implementing ergonomic controls through the application of the Cummins ergonomic design guidelines to reduce risk and deliver ergonomically designed work.
  • Problem Solving - Solves problems and may mentor others on effective problem solving by using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and ensures actions to prevent problem reoccurrence are implemented.
  • Workstation Design - Designs operator work stations that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience

Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

This role is to support Cummins Manufacturing Execution Systems (CMES) team and L2 support to sites.

  • Expertise in Apriso and SQL queries is good to have, rather than a mandatory requirement.
  • Strong overall IT skills are required.

  • Provide Controls/ME consultation and support to sites as needed on CMES.
  • Participate in Fit-Gap Analysis meetings.
    • Analyze the business requirement with respective current solutions
    • Identify the gaps & help to get business justification of identified gaps.
    • Support IT team to the design, development, Testing, and documentation efforts.
    • Support to raise the Change requests for identified gaps.
    • Review the conceptual designs and functionality based on the Fit gap analysis and provide solutions.
    • Co-ordinate with plant business teams to review the designs and seek approval.

This resource will primarily provide level 2 support that includes,

  • Support Global manufacturing sites - for implementation and sustenance of CMES systems
  • Understand and knowledge of Mfg. process (Assembly and Machining) very well to be able to consult on it.
  • Work with business users and suggest work around in case there are any CMES issues.
  • Provide consulting to plants on how to manage CMES downtime.
  • Execute functional and regression testing for CMES upgrades and identify bugs.CMES configuration trainings and documentations.
  • Automation - PLC - controls - Siemens/Rockwell software - Good to have.
  • Delmia 3D Experience - Good to have.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing /Industrial/Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering preferred
