Job summary

RGBSI in Chennai is seeking a hands-on engineer to author build plans and fabrication processes for aircraft electrical wire harnesses and to assist in installing harnesses and components in panels and assemblies.

You will create installation and testing plans, perform process audits, support safety and FOD prevention, identify production inefficiencies, and contribute to DFM studies and supplier quality improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience with aircraft electrical wire harness fabrication and installation.
• Knowledge of testing/inspection planning for wire harnesses and panels.
• Ability to develop work instructions and installation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Execute the process audits for the prevailing Installation/fabrication plans and ensure they meet the defined standards.
• Assist in implementation of safety procedures, FOD prevention and non-conformances issues with wire harness manufacturing.
• Identifies production inefficiencies and suggests potential improvements to product or process.
• Assists in carrying out DFM and producibility studies of wire harness and electrical/electronic products. Prepares report.
• Liaison with in region suppliers to address quality issues and process improvements.
• Exercises critical thinking and innovative problem solving.
• Assists in developing and modifying work instructions for installing wire harnesses and components in panels and other assemblies.

Job description

Position Responsibilities

• Author build plan/fabrication process for Aircraft electrical wire harnesses
• Assists in developing work instructions for installing wire harnesses and components in panels and other assemblies.
• Assist in developing efficient process sequence by analyzing and validating processes, standards and specifications related to fabrication of wire harnesses and panels namely - cutting, sorting, color-coding, labelling, kitting, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials.
• Working knowledge on tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, solder iron, wire identification and cutting machines, heat guns, and associated tools.
• Create Installation plan in CAPP/MES/Teamcenter
• Create testing and inspection plans for wire harnesses, panels, and aircraft electrical systems for continuity and proper functioning.

Assists in developing and modifying work instructions for installing wire harnesses and components in panels and other assemblies. Participate in decomposing of process specifications and coordinating review with BAC spec SME/Custodians. Provide feedback on driving standards engineering requirements and manufacturing operations. Preferred: Hands-on shop-floor wiring experience with electrical harnesses, cable assemblies
