The Managing Director will have overall responsibility for the centre's strategic direction, business performance, operational excellence and long-term growth.

The role involves expanding the GCC's global mandate, strengthening its contribution to the parent organization and building India into a strategic hub for manufacturing, engineering, business operations and functional capabilities.

The incumbent will be responsible for driving business growth, owning the centre's P&L, developing leadership capabilities and building strong partnerships with global business leaders. The individual will work closely with global stakeholders to identify opportunities to expand the scope of operations, bring additional capabilities to India and drive innovation and operational efficiencies across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading large, diversified operations within a global manufacturing or industrial organization, with experience spanning both engineering and

non-engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
  • Provide overall strategic leadership and direction to the India GCC, aligning its objectives with the global business strategy.
  • Develop and execute a growth roadmap to expand the centre's scale, capabilities, responsibilities and global business contribution.
  • Identify opportunities to transition additional global functions, business processes and operational responsibilities to India.
  • Strengthen the GCC's position as a strategic partner to global business units rather than merely a support or shared services centre.
  • Drive business transformation, organizational effectiveness and long-term value creation.
  • Represent the India organization in global leadership forums and contribute to enterprise-wide strategic decisions.
2. P&L and Business Performance
  • Own the overall P&L, financial performance, budgeting, cost management and business outcomes of the India operations.
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity, cost optimization and sustainable growth.
  • Establish appropriate performance metrics and governance mechanisms to monitor business performance.
  • Develop business cases and investment proposals for expanding the centre's capabilities and global mandate.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity and service delivery.
3. Manufacturing, Engineering & Operational Excellence
  • Lead and strengthen manufacturing and industrial engineering capabilities within the GCC.
  • Drive excellence across manufacturing engineering, production planning, process engineering, industrialization, quality, maintenance, procurement and supply chain functions, as relevant to the organisation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing productivity, process efficiency, quality, cost effectiveness and operational performance.
  • Promote standardization, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Encourage innovation in manufacturing processes, production systems, industrial practices and product development.
  • Work closely with global manufacturing and engineering leadership to align India capabilities with global production and business priorities.
  • Provide leadership across a diverse portfolio of engineering and non-engineering functions.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary teams spanning manufacturing and production engineering, supply chain, procurement, finance, HR, legal, commercial operations, customer support and other relevant business functions.
  • Build a cohesive organization that encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing across different functional teams.
  • Develop strong functional leaders and establish clear accountability for business outcomes.
  • Ensure that the India centre operates as an integrated extension of the global organization.
5. Global Stakeholder Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global CXOs, business heads, manufacturing leaders and functional stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary representative of the India GCC in interactions with global leadership.
  • Influence global business decisions and identify opportunities to increase India's participation in strategic business activities.
  • Drive effective collaboration between India and global business units, ensuring alignment on priorities, performance and outcomes.
  • Build credibility and trust with global stakeholders through consistent delivery and demonstrated business value.
  • Build and develop a strong leadership team across engineering, manufacturing and corporate functions.
  • Attract, develop and retain high-quality leadership and specialist talent.
  • Establish a robust succession pipeline and strengthen organizational capabilities for future growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Drive employee engagement, leadership development and organizational effectiveness.
Desired Candidate Profile
  • 20+ years of overall professional experience, with significant leadership experience in global manufacturing or industrial organizations.
  • Proven experience in leading and scaling an established GCC, captive centre or large multinational India operation.
  • Prior experience in the manufacturing / industrial domain is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and industrial business operations, including production, manufacturing engineering, supply chain and associated functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing diversified teams across engineering and non-engineering functions.
  • Strong P&L ownership, financial management and business leadership experience.
  • Track record of expanding global mandates, scaling operations and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience in driving operational excellence, process improvements, productivity and cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence and collaborate with global CXOs and senior business stakeholders.
