We are seeking an experienced Shared Services / Global Capability Centre (GCC) leader to establish, stand up and run our India-based GCC from the ground up. This is a build-and-run mandate: the incumbent will design the operating model, mobilise and scale multi-functional teams across two India sites, and then own end-to-end delivery, governance and continuous improvement of the centre. The role carries significant matrix accountability to global/regional functional leaders, full ownership of the people agenda for the centre, oversight of Technology as a function within the GCC, and a strong mandate to drive cost efficiency while ensuring full compliance with Indian statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the end-to-end set-up of the India GCC — site selection support, facility mobilisation, entity/statutory groundwork, and phased ramp-up of functions and headcount.
- Define the GCC's operating model, service catalogue, governance charter and RACI across the two sites and with global process owners.
- Build the multi-year roadmap for scope migration (which functions/processes move to the GCC, in what sequence) in partnership with global stakeholders.
- Establish governance forums (steering committees, business reviews, service reviews) to track delivery, risk and value realisation.
2. Global Stakeholder & Matrix Management
- Act as the primary India face of the GCC to global/regional functional leaders (Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, Legal, Sales support, etc.), balancing local execution with global process ownership.
- Manage a complex matrix — dotted-line relationships with global function heads, direct-line accountability for site leadership and delivery teams.
- Negotiate and manage SLAs/OLAs, service level agreements and charge-back/cost allocation models with onshore business units.
- Represent the GCC in global leadership forums; influence decisions on scope, resourcing and prioritisation without direct authority over all stakeholders.
3. People, Culture & Talent (Centre-Building)
- Own the full people agenda for the centre: workforce planning, org design, career pathing, and retention for a large, multi-functional workforce.
- Build a distinctive employer brand and culture for the GCC in the India talent market; position the centre as an employer of choice against competing GCCs.
- Drive change management and communication as the centre scales — from a nascent set-up to a mature, high-performing organisation.
4. Multi-Site & Multi-Functional Operations
- Run day-to-day operations across two India sites, ensuring consistent service delivery, standards and culture across locations.
- Oversee multiple functional towers operating within the GCC (e.g., Finance & Accounting, HR Operations, Procurement, Customer/Sales Support, Technology, and other back-office functions), each led by a function head reporting into this role.
- Ensure business continuity, workspace/infrastructure planning, and site-level operational excellence (facilities, admin, safety).
- Standardise processes and tools across sites and functions to enable scale without proportional cost increase.
5. Technology as a Function
- Own Technology/IT as one of the functional pillars within the GCC — application support, infrastructure, service desk, and delivery of technology-enabled process improvements.
- Partner with global IT/enterprise architecture teams on tooling, automation (RPA/AI), and systems that support the GCC's scale-up.
- Champion digitisation and automation across all functions in the centre to improve productivity and reduce manual effort.
- Own the GCC's P&L/cost base; build and manage budgets, track cost-per-transaction/FTE, and demonstrate year-on-year efficiency gains.
- Drive a strong productivity and continuous-improvement culture (Lean/Six Sigma, process re-engineering, automation) across functions.
- Build business cases for further migration/scope addition based on cost-benefit and value-delivery evidence.
- Benchmark the centre's cost and performance against industry/GCC peers and drive corrective actions where needed.
7. Compliance, Statutory & Regulatory
- Ensure the GCC operates in full compliance with Indian labour laws, shops & establishments regulations, statutory filings (PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, etc.), and applicable SEZ/STPI or state-specific regulations.
- Own the relationship with local regulatory bodies, auditors, and legal/compliance advisors; ensure timely renewals, filings and audits across both sites.
- Stay current on evolving Indian employment law, data protection (DPDP Act) and labour codes, and translate implications into policy and practice.
- Ensure robust risk, data security and information-security compliance appropriate to a captive centre handling global data/processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in Shared Services / Global Capability Centre / Global Business Services leadership, including demonstrated experience setting up and scaling a GCC in India from an early stage.
- Proven track record managing multi-functional operations (e.g., Finance, HR, Procurement, Customer Support, Technology) within a shared services environment.
- Experience managing multi-site operations in India and leading large, distributed teams (500+ FTEs preferred).
- Strong exposure to global matrix organisations, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders across geographies without direct line authority.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour law, statutory compliance, and GCC-specific regulatory frameworks (SEZ/STPI, shops & establishments, etc.).
- Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Finance, HR or a related field; Lean/Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
- Strategic and hands‑on operator — equally comfortable setting vision and running daily operations.
- Strong cost and efficiency orientation, with fluency in budgeting, unit economics and productivity metrics.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, executive presence and influencing skills across a global matrix.
- People-first leadership — track record of building culture, talent pipelines and engagement in a scaling organisation.
- Comfort overseeing a technology function, with working fluency in automation, digitisation and enterprise systems.
- Sound judgement on India regulatory, compliance and statutory matters.
- Strong communication, change management and crisis‑management capability across multiple sites and functions.
