Position Overview
As a Lead of Sustainability will be responsible for strategizing, planning, implementing, and tracking various sustainability programs, ensuring compliance, and driving innovation toward achieving net‑zero goals and beyond. This role requires a deep understanding of sustainability, ESG integration, climate‑responsive design, and stakeholder engagement, paired with a strategic mindset and leadership capabilities.
Role & responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Action Plan Development
- Develop and execute MLDL (Waste, Water, Energy, Carbon, Social, Governance) and IC strategy and action plans, including ideation, business case quantification, implementation, and tracking.
- Lead the creation and execution of Net Zero Action Plans for residential portfolios.
ESG Integration
- Develop and implement ESG roadmaps and action plans, including walkthroughs, initiative planning, and execution.
- Ensure ESG risk integration, monitoring, and impact quantification.
Thought Leadership
- Drive thought leadership initiatives such as Decarbonization Business Charter (DBC), Solar Decathlon India, and other innovative sustainability programs.
Employee Engagement & Capacity Building
- Oversee employee volunteering programs aligned with CSR and CER goals.
- Conduct sustainability capacity‑building training sessions for associates.
Sustainability Reporting & Investor Disclosures
- Manage annual sustainability reporting, integrated reports, and quarterly/annual investor disclosures (e.g., Actis, IFC).
- Lead efforts for CDP submissions and BRSR compliance.
- Collaborate with third‑party assurance teams for site visits and findings closures.
Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Roll out SOPs and provide audit support for IMS/TMW compliance.
- Ensure environmental compliance and integrate EMS requirements into sustainability goals.
CSR & CER Management
- Devise and implement CSR and CER strategies, action plans, and reporting mechanisms.
- Lead site visits for impact assessment and stakeholder engagement on the ground.
Supply Chain & Vendor Ecosystem
- Develop a Code of Conduct for suppliers and assess their sustainability compliance through training and annual stakeholder meetings.
- Build and integrate a vendor ecosystem within projects and sales galleries through pilot initiatives.
Green Buildings & Certifications
- Lead green building certification efforts, from pre‑certification and net‑zero design certification to final certification.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to communicate sustainability impacts to customers and support project launches.
Site Sustainability & Data Management
- Conduct quarterly site sustainability maturity assessments, site visits, and compliance tracking (e.g., EC/CTE/CTO/IGBC/GRIHA).
- Ensure sustainability data reviews for third‑party assurance and decision‑making.
Climate Responsive Design
- Drive energy modelling and renewable energy integration for project sites and sales galleries.
Environmental Clearance Support
- Provide guidance and support for environmental clearance processes.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors or master’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related fields.
- 12+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG integration, environmental management, and real estate projects.
- Proven track record in developing and executing sustainability strategies and programs for large‑scale portfolios.
- Experience with certifications such as IGBC, GRIHA, CDP, and Net Zero design.
