Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior software engineering leader to drive full lifecycle delivery of AI-enabled enterprise features in a cloud-first environment. You will mentor engineers, set architectural direction, and ensure scalable, secure solutions across Azure-based services.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, team development, and adherence to best practices in modern DevOps, microservices, and AI integration within production systems.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying robust, scalable enterprise software on cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience managing technical teams and mentoring engineers at various skill levels.
• Proven track record of implementing AI-powered components, optimizing AI workflows, and integrating ML models into production systems.
• Proven deep expertise in microservices architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven expert in Angular/React and Java development within microservices architectures deployed on Azure, with deep knowledge of cloud-native patterns, DevOps practices, and AI/ML integration strategies.

Responsibilities

• Leading the full lifecycle (design, implementation, testing, deployment) of complex project features while mentoring a team of engineers.
• Provides technical leadership with a significant focus on architecting and integrating AI-driven capabilities across enterprise systems.
• Architects scalable, high-performance solutions that leverage AI coding assistants, AI-powered insights, and machine learning models to accelerate development and enhance system capabilities.
• Drives technical decision-making for the team, establishing coding standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
• Leads code reviews, design reviews, and technical discussions to ensure quality and knowledge sharing.
• Manages and mentors a team of 5-8 software engineers, providing career development guidance and performance feedback.
• Fosters a collaborative, inclusive team culture and removes blockers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements.
