Job summary

SGS India is seeking a Quality Assurance professional for their testing laboratory. The role involves implementing and maintaining the QMS under ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL, coordinating internal audits and management reviews, and ensuring calibration and subcontractor evaluation processes are up to date.

The candidate will liaise with accreditation bodies, handle customer complaints with root-cause analysis, and lead monthly quality reviews to drive continual improvement in testing and calibration

• Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for testing laboratories.
• Familiarity with NABL accreditation processes and audits.
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking for quality management.

Role & responsibilities

• Industry/ Sector: Textile/Leather / Consumer product Testing and Quality activity in Lab as per ISO 17025

• Scope of job /Activities handled: Quality role in Testing laboratory

• Responsible for implementing and maintaining the laboratory QMS in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, NABL, and SGS requirements. Manage laboratory documentation, internal audits, management reviews, and accreditation body coordination. Oversee ILC/PT participation, equipment calibration, subcontractor evaluation, and quality control practices. Handle customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in coordination with the Technical Manager. Conduct quality meetings and staff training while ensuring compliance with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Preferred candidate profile

• Responsible for overall implementation of quality management system (QMS) in the laboratory complying with the requirements as stated in ISO/IEC 17025 and SGS Group requirements
• Prepare and update the relevant laboratory specific documents.
• Ensure participation in ILC and PT programs.
• Plan and organize internal audits at least once in 12 months covering all the clauses of ISO/IEC 17025 and specific criteria of NABL.
• Plan and organize Management review meeting at least once in 12 months.
• Responsible to record all the complaints.
• Investigate the complaints and analyze the root cause to take necessary corrective actions.
• Act as one-point contact for the accreditation body.
• Liaison with the technical manager in relation to quality matters affecting testing or calibration
• Conduct refresher training programs for all the staff on ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and quality procedures
• Evaluate service providers for equipment calibrations and subcontracting.
• Ensure calibration (internal/external) of all the equipment and accessories used for the tests are performed as per schedule.
• Conduct monthly quality meeting with the lab team to review the monthly performance of the lab.
• Responsible for document control ensuring that all documents, records, samples are retained and disposed off as per the quality system procedure.
• Implement/ verify QC Control practice and report all deviations to Technical Manager/ Lab Manager.
