Job summary

CRA Energy (Combustion Research Associates) seeks a senior process engineer to lead the process engineering team and own the design of every order after award. You will approve all process deliverables and drive improvements to existing designs and new products.

The role requires extensive experience in chemical process design for combustion/gas handling equipment, plus direct involvement in P&IDs, datasheets, control philosophies and HAZOPs. Strong communication and ownership are essential.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering; an M.Tech is an advantage.
• 10+ years in process engineering including 3+ years leading or checking others.
• Process design on combustion or gas handling equipment (flares, oxidisers, incinerators, burners, scrubbers, gas treatment or compression).
• Hands-on with heat and mass balances, combustion calcs, hydraulics, line sizing, relief sizing and instrument sizing.
• Produced and approved P&IDs, process datasheets, control philosophies and cause-and-effect matrices.
• Led HAZOPs or taken active part in them.
• Knowledge of API 521, API 537 and NFPA standards for combustion and relief systems.
• Comfortable using AI tools in engineering work and rigorous about checking outputs.
• Clear communicator who owns outcomes and explains design decisions to clients and colleagues.

Founded in 1993, CRA has more than 800 installations in over 25 countries. Process, mechanical and electrical design, fabrication and machining are all done in-house near Delhi.

You will lead CRA's process engineering team. You own the process design of every order after award, and approve all process deliverables before they are issued.

You also drive improvements to CRA's existing designs and the development of new products.

Requirements

• B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering. An M.Tech is an advantage.
  
• 10 years or more in process engineering, including at least 3 years leading or checking the work of other engineers.
  
• Process design experience on combustion or gas handling equipment, such as flares, thermal oxidisers, incinerators, burners, scrubbers, gas treatment or compression packages.
  
• Hands-on with heat and mass balances, combustion calculations, hydraulics, line sizing, relief sizing and instrument sizing.
  
• Has produced and approved P&IDs, process datasheets, control philosophies and cause-and-effect matrices.
  
• Has led HAZOPs or taken an active part in them.
  
• Working knowledge of API 521, API 537 and the NFPA standards that apply to combustion and relief systems.
  
• Comfortable using AI tools in engineering work, and rigorous about checking their output.
  
• A clear communicator who can explain design decisions to clients and colleagues, and who takes ownership of outcomes.

• Experience at an equipment manufacturer or packager, not only on the EPC or owner's side.
  
• New product development or design improvement work.
  
• Biogas, CBG or landfill gas projects.
  
• Process simulation in HYSYS or similar.
