Job Description: Manager – Portfolio Management (NBFC)

Department: Portfolio Management / Credit Monitoring

Location: Mumbai

Reporting To: National Credit Head

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio Monitoring & DPD Analysis:
  • Monitor the overall loan and investment portfolio on a periodic basis.
  • Conduct Daily Past Due (DPD) analysis across all accounts and identify emerging stress accounts.
  • Prepare ageing reports, delinquency trends, overdue movement analysis, and recovery dashboards.
  • Highlight early warning signals (EWS) and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track portfolio quality through key risk indicators and prepare MIS for senior management.
2. Exposure Analysis:
  • Monitor borrower-wise, group-wise, sector-wise and geographical exposure.
  • Ensure compliance with RBI exposure norms and internal credit concentration limits.
  • Analyse utilisation of sanctioned limits and identify concentration risks.
  • Prepare exposure reports for Credit Committee, Risk Committee and senior management.
  • Review compliance with single borrower, group borrower and sectoral exposure limits.
3. Project Monitoring:
  • Monitor progress of funded projects through periodic reviews.
  • Review project execution against approved timelines, budgets and milestones.
  • Track construction progress, sales velocity, cash flows and utilisation of funds.
  • Coordinate with technical consultants, valuation agencies and business teams for project updates.
  • Identify implementation delays and recommend mitigation measures.
4. Project Review Reports:
  • Prepare comprehensive periodic Project Review Reports (PRRs).
  • Analyse operational, financial and legal developments impacting projects.
  • Assess covenant compliance and project performance against sanction conditions.
  • Present findings to senior management and Credit Committee with recommendations.
  • Monitor implementation of approved action plans.
5. Escrow Monitoring & Reconciliation:
  • Monitor escrow accounts and ensure adherence to approved cash flow waterfall mechanisms.
  • Reconcile escrow collections, payments and account balances on a periodic basis.
  • Ensure routing of project receivables through designated escrow accounts.
  • Investigate reconciliation exceptions and coordinate with borrowers and operations for timely resolution.
  • Prepare periodic escrow monitoring reports.
6. Regulatory & Policy Compliance:
  • Ensure all portfolio accounts remain compliant with applicable RBI regulations and internal credit policies.
  • Monitor compliance with sanction terms, financial covenants and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Review documentation and ensure adherence to internal approval conditions.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Operations and Compliance teams for timely resolution of observations.
  • Track regulatory changes impacting portfolio management processes.
7. Security Creation & Perfection:
  • Monitor timely creation, registration and perfection of all security documents.
  • Ensure completion of mortgage creation, hypothecation, pledge and charge registration.
  • Track filings with ROC/CERSAI and other statutory authorities.
  • Maintain security perfection tracker and ensure closure of pending documentation.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel, borrowers and operations to resolve documentation deficiencies.
8. Audit & Inspection Management:
  • Coordinate internal, statutory, concurrent and regulatory audits.
  • Prepare audit data, responses and supporting documentation.
  • Track closure of audit observations within stipulated timelines.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions arising from audit findings.
  • Strengthen portfolio monitoring processes based on audit recommendations.
9. Management Information System (MIS):
  • Prepare periodic portfolio MIS and dashboards for management.
  • Develop portfolio analytics covering DPD, exposure, escrow, project status and compliance.
  • Present portfolio trends and risk analysis during management reviews.
  • Automate reporting wherever feasible to improve efficiency.
10. Stakeholder Coordination:
  • Liaise with Credit, Risk, Legal, Operations, Finance and Business teams.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, legal firms, technical consultants and borrowers.
  • Support Credit Committee and Risk Committee through portfolio analytics and review reports.
Desired Candidate Profile:

Educational Qualification: CA / MBA (Finance) / CFA

Experience:

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in Portfolio Management, Credit Monitoring, Risk Management or Loan Administration within an NBFC, Bank or Financial Institution.
  • Experience in real estate financing, structured finance, LAP, project finance or corporate lending would be preferred.
