Job summary

Emami is seeking an experienced Manager/Senior Manager Perfumery to lead the perfumery team and drive fragrance development across the personal care portfolio. The role oversees fragrance evaluation, development, quality, regulatory and commercial aspects, collaborating with Brand, Formulation, Technology Transfer, Marketing, Operations and external fragrance suppliers.

• Strong hands-on experience in fragrance evaluation and perfumery.
• Excellent understanding of fragrance families, notes and olfactive evaluation.
• Knowledge of perfume formulation for diverse bases (oils, creams, shampoos, powders).
• Ability to draft perfume briefs covering technical, commercial and regulatory needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead fragrance development across Skin Care, Hair Care, Deodorants, and other personal care categories.
• Drive fragrance development for new product launches and innovation projects.
• Coordinate with Brand, R&D, Marketing and Operations on fragrance objectives.
• Manage fragrance-related technical, commercial and regulatory requirements.
• Organise perfumery workshops and train expert panels.

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Manager / Senior Manager Perfumery to lead the Perfumery team and drive fragrance development across the personal care portfolio.

The role will be responsible for fragrance evaluation, perfume development, innovation, quality, regulatory and commercial aspects, while working closely with Brand, Formulation, Technology Transfer, Marketing, Operations and external fragrance suppliers.

Preferred candidate profile

• Lead perfume/fragrance development across Skin Care, Hair Care, Deodorants, Pain Management, Fine Fragrances and other personal care categories.
• Drive fragrance development for new product launches, innovation projects and variants.
• Develop and evaluate perfumes based on brand objectives, consumer requirements and product briefs.
• Work closely with fragrance houses and external suppliers to develop suitable fragrance profiles.
• Prepare and communicate fragrance briefs, perfume specifications, processing specifications and brand objectives.
• Conduct fragrance evaluation and ensure quality and consistency during laboratory and commercial scale-up.
• Manage fragrance-related technical, commercial and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct trend and category analysis in coordination with fragrance houses.
• Maintain fragrance libraries and market/competitive product mapping.
• Support cost-saving / DTV initiatives related to perfume formulation.
• Identify and work with suitable vendors and suppliers while ensuring quality and commercial effectiveness.
• Coordinate with Marketing, Brand, R&D, Formulation, Technology Transfer and Operations teams.
• Organize perfumery workshops and support certification/training of expert panels.
• Train and develop team members and provide technical guidance.

Required Skills & Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience in Fragrance Evaluation and Perfumery.
• Excellent understanding of fragrance families, fragrance notes and olfactive evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of perfume formulation and evaluation in various product bases such as:
• Oils
• Creams
• Shampoos
• Talcum powders
• Other personal care products
• Understanding of skin care, hair care, deodorants and personal care products.
• Knowledge of fragrance regulatory requirements for Indian and international markets.
• Ability to draft detailed perfume/fragrance briefs covering technical, commercial, marketing and regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

• 810 years of experience in the fragrance/perfumery industry, preferably in Fragrance Evaluation.
• Experience in Personal Care / FMCG / Fragrance industry preferred.
• Candidates should have strong olfactory skills and practical exposure to perfume development and evaluation.
• Prior experience leading fragrance/perfumery projects or teams will be relevant.
