Deloitte Shared Services India is hiring a Payroll Senior/Lead to oversee end-to-end Indian payroll processing for multiple clients in Mumbai. You will lead a payroll team, manage SLAs, ensure compliance, and partner with HR, Finance and client stakeholders.

The role emphasizes strong client management, governance of statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS), process improvements, and transitions for new clients, with a focus on data confidentiality and quality delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for end-to-end Indian payroll processing for multiple clients.
  • Manage the complete payroll lifecycle including inputs, attendance, leave, earnings, deductions, reimbursements, full & final settlement and payroll processing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing as per SLAs and client requirements.
  • Manage statutory payroll compliance including PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS and other applicable regulations.
  • Review payroll calculations and statutory reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage client relationships and act as the key point of contact for payroll-related requirements and escalations.
  • Understand client requirements and ensure payroll processes are delivered as per agreed scope and timelines.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the payroll team, including work allocation, performance management and coaching.
  • Monitor quality, productivity, SLA and turnaround time metrics.
  • Handle complex payroll issues and client escalations independently.
  • Support new client transitions, payroll implementations and process migrations.
  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements, standardization and automation.
  • Ensure payroll data confidentiality and adherence to internal controls.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, Compliance and client stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll delivery.

Required Experience & Skills
Preferred candidate profile
  • 712 years of experience in Indian payroll, preferably within a payroll outsourcing/BPO/managed services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end Indian payroll processes.
  • Good understanding of PF, ESI, Professional Tax, LWF, TDS and payroll statutory compliance.
  • Experience handling payroll for multiple clients is highly preferred.
  • Strong team management and leadership experience.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing SLAs, quality and payroll delivery
