Job summary

PNG Jewellers is looking for an experienced Server Administrator to own and manage the entire server infrastructure lifecycle, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency. Ideal candidates will have 10+ years in server administration along with AWS or Azure certifications.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining server uptime SLAs, executing disaster recovery strategies, and managing enterprise backup operations. Strong experience in both Linux and Windows Server environments is essential.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Own and manage the entire server infrastructure lifecycle, physical servers, virtualised environments (VMware), and cloud instances (AWS/GCP) ensuring optimal performance, capacity planning, and cost efficiency.
• Maintain server uptime SLAs across all production, staging, and development environments, with proactive monitoring, alerting, and rapid incident response.
• Design, document, and execute the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategy, including on‑premises hot‑standby and cloud‑based failover architectures.
• Plan and conduct periodic DR drills, validate RPO/RTO targets, document results, identify gaps, and drive remediation to ensure recoverability is always audit‑ready.
• Manage enterprise backup operations end‑to‑end, define backup policies, monitor job success/failure, perform periodic restoration tests, and maintain backup inventory documentation.
• Administer and optimise VMware virtualisation infrastructure, provisioning, resource allocation, patching, snapshot management, and lifecycle maintenance of virtual machines.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure health, utilisation, and spend across AWS and GCP using native and third‑party tools; implement rightsizing and cost optimisation recommendations.
• Manage server hardening, OS patching (Windows Server and Linux), and security baseline compliance in coordination with the Security & Compliance function.
• Oversee network‑attached storage, SAN/NAS management, and data replication strategies to ensure data durability and availability.
• Coordinate with application teams, ERP support, and eCommerce teams to provision infrastructure for new projects, migrations, and performance‑critical deployments.
• Maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation asset registers, topology diagrams, DR runbooks, and change logs to support audit and governance requirements

Preferred candidate profile

• Graduate in Science, IT, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in server administration, data centre operations, and infrastructure management in a mid‑to‑large enterprise environment.
• Certified in one or more: AWS Solutions Architect / SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Azure Administrator, MCSE, VMware VCP, or equivalent.
• Strong Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu) and Windows Server administration skills across physical and virtualised environments.
• Proven experience in designing and executing DR drills, BCP documentation, and backup/restore operations at enterprise scale.
• Deep hands‑on expertise in VMware vSphere/vCenter, VM provisioning, vMotion, HA/DRS clustering, and performance tuning.
• Working knowledge of cloud monitoring and management tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code practices (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) is a strong advantage.
• Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments managing workloads across on‑premises and cloud with clear governance.
• Strong documentation discipline and a process‑oriented approach to change management, capacity planning, and incident response.
• Willingness to be on‑call and respond to critical infrastructure incidents outside business hours.
