Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited [Automotive and Farm Equipment Business] seeks a design and quality engineer to review mechanical designs, lead FMEA, and validate prototypes through SOP stages. You will work with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain to embed quality early in the product lifecycle.

The role requires strong CAD/FEA skills, GD&T accuracy, and experience with PLM systems, along with data analysis and execution of quality methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD software and FEA tools.
• Expertise with GD&T and metrology.
• Strong data analysis skills using various tools.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (e.g., Teamcenter).
• Good presentation skills using PPT/XLS/Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical designs, drawings, and schematics for manufacturability and standards compliance.
• Lead and participate in FMEA to identify risks and define mitigation strategies.
• Review test plans and reports during validation of mechanical prototypes to SOP.
• Investigate mechanical failures and determine CAPA with COEs for design issues.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain to embed Design Quality early in the lifecycle.
• Apply Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality frameworks.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design Review & Validation: Review mechanical designs, drawings, and schematics to ensure manufacturability and compliance with industry standards
• Risk Management: Lead and participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential design risks and define mitigation strategies
• Testing & Evaluation reports confirmation: Review test plans and reports during validation of mechanical prototypes through various stages till SOP
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate mechanical failures, defects, or customer complaints, and establish corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in consultation with COEs related to design issues
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate Design Quality into the product lifecycle early stage
• Quality Methodologies: Deep understanding of quality frameworks like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO standards

Required Skills

• Proficiency in CAD Software (e.g., Unigraphics, CATIA, AutoCAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
• Expertise with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and metrology
• Strong data analysis skills various tools
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software (e.g., Teamcenter)
• Good presentation skill using tools like PPT, XLS and Power BI

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as QMS Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
• Design background in BIW, Drive Train etc.
