Job summary

Mahindra Susten is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design and optimize EHV switchyards and transmission lines across projects. You will prepare layouts, SLDs, cable schedules, and transformer specifications while coordinating with vendors and project managers.

The role involves performing grid studies using PSS/E/PSCAD, ensuring adherence to grid codes, and supporting site integration and troubleshooting efforts. Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• EHV switchyard design experience.
• Knowledge of grid codes and power system studies.
• Experience with PSS/E and PSCAD simulations.

Responsibilities

• Designs and optimizes EHV switchyards and transmission lines for projects.
• Prepares switchyard layout, SLD, EKD, cable schedule, and related layouts.
• Prepares technical specifications for transformers, LA, isolators, FOTE systems, and auxiliary systems.
• Performs system calculations for earthing, sag/tension, and short-circuit forces.
• Reviews specifications and coordinates purchase requests.
• Conducts reactive power, power quality, steady-state and dynamic studies in PSS/E/PSCAD.
• Reviews design documents and drawings; supports project delivery.
• Arranges site visits to support integration and troubleshooting.

Role & responsibilities

• Designs and optimizes EHV switchyard and transmission line for all projects
• Prepares switchyard layout, SLD, EKD, cable schedule, cable trench layout, etc.
• Prepares technical specifications for Power transformers, PT, LA, BPI, Isolators, CRP, SAS, PLCC, FOTE system, Battery and aux system, SVG and harmonic filters
• Performs system calculations for earthing, DSLP, conductor sizing sag tension, short circuit force
• Reviews technical specification and coordinate for purchase requestions
• Understands grid code compliances and prepares required documents for reactive power study, power quality study, steady state and dynamic studies in PSS/E & PSCAD
• Reviews design documents and engineering drawings
• Collaborates with project managers and other engineers to ensure timely project delivery
• Conducts site visits to support system integration and troubleshooting
