Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers in Bengaluru, India, seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to lead the preparation of design packages for renewable and power projects, including Solar, Wind and BESS, and to develop SLDs, layouts and cable sizing.

You will ensure compliance with IEC/IEE/IS standards, grid codes and utility requirements, review technical specifications and BOQs, mentor discipline engineers, and collaborate with project teams to resolve design issues and deliver complete, accurate

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of electrical design packages for renewable and power projects.
• Develop and review Single-Line Diagrams, layouts, and cable sizing; voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.
• Engineer electrical systems for MV/HV (11kV–400kV) including inverter, transformer, switchgear.
• Identify design gaps, constructability issues, and optimization opportunities.
• Review project requirements, specifications, and design concepts to ensure compliance.
• Prepare and review electrical specifications, BOQs and support bid evaluations.
• Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to resolve design issues.
• Provide technical information and ideas to support the engineering team.
• Maintain quality and completeness of electrical design submissions.
• Timely closure of design review comments.
• Effective mentoring of Discipline engineers.
• Check technical drafts for accuracy in calculations, measurements, and units.
• Perform quality checks on drawings for function, fit, and submission.

Role & responsibilities

Electrical Design Engineering:

• Lead preparation of electrical design packages for renewable and power projects including, Solar, Wind and BESS along with Power evacuation systems and substation interface.
• Develop and review of Single-Line Diagrams(SLD), Electrical layouts and schematics, Cable sizing, voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.
• Engineering electrical systems for MV/HV systems (11kV - 400kV) including, Inverter, transformer, switchgear.

Technical Compliance:

• Identify design gaps, constructability issues, and optimization opportunities.
• Review project requirements, specifications, and design concepts to ensure compliance.
• Ensure design align with project specifications, Grid codes and utility requirements, also as per IEC/IEE/IS Standards.
• Prepare and review of Electrical technical specifications, BOQs and support technical bid evaluations.
