Job summary

Responsibilities

• Oversee wet lab operations for prenatal and postnatal cytogenetics.

Job Description: Manager/Assistant ManagerCytogenetics

Site : Chennai

Business Unit - Diagnostic Laboratory Operations

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee and handle wet lab for prenatal and postnatal cytogenetics samples
• Oversee, maintain TAT for every sample
• Ensure timely communication of delays of samples
• Review metaphase counts and karyotypes for each sample
• Result entry in LIMs.
• Results verification / review/ approval Level 2 authorization for prenatal and postnatal Karyotyping samples
• Maintain the target number of samples for approval per day, for Manager/Assistant manager- minimum 15 cases (if enough cases are there)
• Follow up and complete EQA/ ILC samples periodically as per schedule
• Document any deviations in EQA results or routinely follow the Samples from receipt to reporting and storage and ensure TAT compliance.
• Document and discuss cytogenetics lab operation challenges with Laboratory Director
• Write, review, revise SOPs periodically
• Conceive ideas for process efficiency and cost efficiency and discuss with Laboratory director
• Data analysis
• Interacting with the customers and clinicians and clarifying the reports and other queries

Secondary responsibilities

• Perform metaphase counting and karyotyping for samples when needed
• Interlab coordination

REQUIRED COMPETENCE

Education - Ph.D. in Medical Genetics / Biomedical Genetics / Human Genetics /life Sciences/Biosciences. Research work for Ph.D. carried out in Cytogenetic.

Required work experience related to position at least 7-10 years experience in genetics- cytogenetics wet lab and analysis Finalizing of karyotypes from different samples.

Special requirements / Skills / Attributes

Experience in an NABL accredited Cytogenetic laboratory
