Job summary

Mittalbooks is seeking a Senior Accountant to own books for multiple group entities, ensuring timely month-end closes and clean compliance. This hands-on role requires independent handling and strong GST/TDS knowledge in an e-commerce and publishing environment.

The successful candidate will manage bank reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, and financial reporting, while coordinating audits and supervising junior staff. In-person work location in Delhi with competitive salary.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in accounting with independent books ownership
• CA Inter or CMA Inter is preferred
• Strong working knowledge of Tally Prime and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
• GST and TDS provisions and portal filings knowledge
• E-commerce marketplace reconciliation experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete books of accounts in Tally/ERP for multiple entities including month-end provisions, accruals and closing entries
• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and entity-wise profitability statements with variance commentary
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and close open items within 30 days
• Reconcile publisher/vendor ledgers and resolve disputed entries
• Reconcile Amazon/Flipkart settlements and initiate recoveries for short-payments
• Manage GST end-to-end: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, 2B vs purchase register and ITC
• Handle TDS under sections 194Q/194C/194I/194J and Form 16A
• Control payables, monitor debtor aging, and coordinate audits
• Review junior staff work and ensure accuracy of management reports
• Maintain fixed asset register and stock-to-books reconciliation
• Provide weekly cash flow and fund projections to management

About the role

We are a books distribution, publishing and e-commerce group operating across trade distribution, academic publishing and online marketplaces. We're looking for a Senior Accountant to independently own the books of accounts for our group entities, close them on time every month, and keep our compliances clean. This is a hands‑on role with full ownership — not one where you'll be a small part of a large team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain complete books of accounts in Tally/ERP for multiple group entities, including month-end provisions, accruals and closing entries
• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and entity-wise profitability statements with variance commentary
• Perform daily bank reconciliations across multiple current accounts and close open items within 30 days
• Reconcile publisher and vendor ledgers, obtain balance confirmations, and resolve disputed entries
• Reconcile Amazon and Flipkart settlement reports — payouts, commissions, shipping fees, returns and short-payments — and raise claims for recoveries
• Handle GST end‑to‑end: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, 2B vs purchase register matching, ITC follow-up and annual return
• Manage TDS under sections 194Q, 194C, 194I and 194J — deduction, challan deposit, quarterly returns and Form 16A
• Control the payables cycle, track debtor ageing, and escal0??
• Maintain the fixed asset register and monthly stock‑to‑books tie‑out with the warehouse
• Provide weekly cash flow position and fund requirement projections to management
• Coordinate with statutory auditors and consultants during audits and assessments
• Review the work of junior accounting staff and own the accuracy of numbers reported to management

Requirements

• B.Com / M.Com; CA Inter or CMA Inter preferred
• 5–8 years in accounting, with at least 2 years handling books independently
• Strong working knowledge of Tally Prime and advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, large‑data reconciliation)
• Practical, current knowledge of GST and TDS provisions and portal filings
• Experience with e‑commerce marketplace reconciliation is a strong plus
• Accuracy, ownership and the discipline to meet closing deadlines without being chased

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
