Process Overview

Driving reduced losses and customer friction by performing model validation work on a portfolio of fraud models. This role supports the Consumer Client Protection organization and partners with vendors, independent model risk management, technology, and business strategy teams to document, deploy, and assess performance of fraud models.

Responsibilities
  • Work with vendors and internal modeling partners to develop approval documentation for new fraud scores and algorithms, including comprehensive write‑ups on model construction, testing, validation, methodology, sampling, performance, and other relevant details.
  • Conduct periodic model validations on scores, monitoring key metrics such as precision, recall, rank ordering, detection of PSI, and other metrics to ensure models perform well and do not deteriorate.
  • Partner with strategies teams to communicate model performance and trends, providing insights into deteriorating or underperforming scores and supporting adjustments to prevent losses.
  • Work with Model Risk Management (MRM) to close out follow‑up items on partially or conditionally approved models.
  • Develop best practices for fraud model governance that balance rapid deployment needs with internal and regulatory concerns.
  • Create dashboards and MIS reports to visualize model performance, trends, and potential issues.
  • Support automation initiatives within the team and pursue automation of repetitive tasks.
Requirements
Education
  • Advanced degree, preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline from a premier institute.
  • Technical certifications in SAS or SQL preferred.
Experience

5 to 7 years of relevant experience.

Foundational Skills
  • Experience with SAS or SQL is required; proficiency with Python or PySpark strongly preferred. Knowledge of other data extraction tools such as Hive, HUE, or Pig is also beneficial.
  • Proficiency with visualization software such as Tableau and presentation software such as PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, drive, and a desire to dig in, learn, and make a difference.
Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, finance, or business. A postgraduate degree is a plus.
  • U.S. financial services experience preferred.
  • Understanding of business domains such as Fraud, Compliance, or Risk preferred.
